“Amy gets some unexpected news from the eye doctor. The family heads to New Orleans and Amy is left speechless when they spring a surprise on her. Andrea tries to find a solution for Tammy’s unraveling mental state.”

In tonight’s 1000-Lb Sister episode, Tammy’s attitude was getting worse. She was pushing a lot of people away because of it. Her girlfriend was trying her best to get Tammy to accept help and it wasn’t working. Tammy didn’t see she had a problem. Andrea couldn’t just fix her because she wasn’t a miracle worker.

Tammy needed professional help. She recently made an accusation against Brittany of all people. It made her family realize she wasn’t doing well. She accused Brittany of assault back when they were in the UK and she claimed she didn’t feel safe around them. She was refusing to go on the siblings vacation. Amanda couldn’t go either because of her health. And so Chris invited Brian.

Brian was engaged to Amy. They lived together. It was just her family that still has doubts about him. Amy rushed into the relationship and no one was considering Brian until he’s been around a few years. Ten years for Mandy. Mandy essentially just warmed up to Brittany in that case. They weren’t giving him a fair shot.

Nor were they originally going to include Brian in this trip to New Orleans. Chris only changed his mind because he already rented out the RV. He rented a large one thinking he’d get all the siblings on it. Well, half of them weren’t coming anymore so he freed up room.

There was now space for Brian. It would also give Chris the chance to talk to Brian one on one. The two never sat down to talk. Chris doesn’t really know Brian.

He was finally open to getting to know him. He came about it for a selfish reason, but it was still real. Chris was open to talking to Andrea. He could use this trip to talk to Brian. The road trip down to New Orleans wasn’t even as bad as he thought it was going to be. They heard some good news about Amy. Amy saw an eye doctor. She’s been told all her life that she’d be blind by time she turned thirty-five.

She was now thirty-eight. She could still see out of the one good eye. She only got peripheral image out of the poor eye. Still, she wasn’t fully blind like they said so she saw a doctor.

Amy’s eye was the way it was because her mom slept with kat litter under her bed while she was pregnant. It was a big no no because cat’s excrement carry bacteria that could affect the baby in-utero. As it did with Amy. Amy decided to see a professional because she wanted to know if there was anything she could do to save her vision. Her doctor reassured her that she was good to go.

Amy can wear glasses to heighten the vision in the one eye. She could also start driving. The eye doctor fully believed she could become independent soon and there was a surgery to correct the eye with patrial vision. Amy’s future was now brighter than before. She can do things she never thought she could.

She shared that with the family in the RV and they cheered for her. They were happy that she could get surgery. They just wanted to know when she took the road alone so that they could stay off it until she gets where she needs to be.

Back home, Andrea needed help. She doesn’t have family. She let Tammy be her whole world and now Tammy was turning on her. Andrea tried going to Chris for help. He thought it would all be resolved if Tammy and Ammy made up. It didn’t happen. It just made Tammy angrier.

Tammy needed actual help with her problems. She needed to see a professional. Tammy got so angry at Andrea one time that she ripped the doors off the closets. She ripped them off their hinges. Andrea couldn’t take any more of that. It would truly be sticking around to getting abused if she does stay.

Andrea thought that maybe Tammy’s mother could convince her to go to therapy. Only that woman doesn’t know Tammy. She didn’t parent Tammy. She was no help in this case. She acted like she never met Tammy with the way she described her as holding usually holding her anger in.

Andrea got no help from her. Andrea ended up having an honest conversation with Tammy. She told her what was at stake. Their relationship. It was either she gets help or they call it quits because that poor woman couldn’t keep getting leg wounds from the stress anymore.

Down in New Orleans, the trip wasn’t going well for the one person it was supposed to be about. Brittany always wanted this trip to celebrate her weight loss and she wasn’t enjoying herself.

They did the horse carriage tour like she wanted. It soon became about someone else. It became about Amy. Amy who sat all the way in the back of the carriage to lower the risk of getting bitten by a new animal. Amy who enjoyed herself more on the trip than Brittany did. She loved the artists on the boulevard. The others got bored after five minutes.

They then did a food tour. They loved the food. Amy was feeling nauseous and she pushed through it because the beignets were worth it. Brittany could only eat one bite of it before she had to put it down. It wouldn’t work with her diet.

There was too much powdered sugar on it. Chris was the one that planned the food tour and he should’ve remembered that they all had bariatric surgery.

Amy, Brian, and Misty eventually saw a voodoo priestess. Misty was fine with that because she’s always been interested in other religions. She knew enough that voodoo was a religion. Amy thought it would be a tarot card reading.

She was surprised when she walked through fire during a ceremony and Brittany never bothered to go at all.
