Coronation Street may have just foreshadowed a major death
A particularly intriguing scene aired in last night’s Coronation Street and it’s left us wondering if the ITV soap has just foreshadowed a major death.
It’s no secret that Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) is leaving Weatherfield, and rumours are still circulating that he will be killed off.
Discussing his departure, Daniel said: ‘I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not look forward to going into work.
He added: ‘I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.’
Producer of the show Kate Brooks noted: ‘Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit.

‘We’re incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie’s biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul’s MND. An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.’
As fans prepare to say goodbye to the character, a moment in yesterday’s episode appeared to have laid the foundations of Billy’s final storyline.
The local vicar was in his flat drinking wine with mate Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). Earlier in the day, Todd went to the hospital to receive results of a bowel cancer test.
He was told that he doesn’t have cancer, but the anxiety surrounding the potential diagnosis made Todd think about his own mortality.

As the two pals drank wine, they discussed Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Julie Carp’s (Katy Cavanagh) passings, and how they should be used to the idea of death, with one working as a vicar and the other one who works at a funeral parlour.
Billy discussed leading funerals and his experiences of grief. As this happened though, there were a few long camera shots on him. Of course, this could just be because Billy was talking about something quite deep and meaningful – but then it could’ve also been an ‘on the nose’ clue as to how his final chapter in Weatherfield is going to end.
Also in the instalment, Todd lied to Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) when he rang and asked where he was.

He claimed that he was at work so when Theo arrived at the funeral parlour and found George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) alone, it wasn’t long until the complex character realised his partner had lied.
Theo put his takeaway in the bin and then found Todd and Billy chatting outside the flat. Todd decided that he wouldn’t be returning to his own home, and staggered back inside Billy’s flat with the intention of sleeping on his sofa.
Theo wasn’t able to hear their conversation, so seeing his boyfriend drunk and with his ex left his mind whirring.

We’ve seen in previous scenes that Theo doesn’t like Billy, based purely on the fact he doesn’t think he should be friends with Todd.
With Billy playing a key part in Todd’s story, could his potential death involve his friend’s abusive partner?
Will Theo murder Billy in a jealous state of rage?
