ITV Coronation Street issues update on ‘missing’ Ryan Connor and fans will be gutted
Coronation Street has delivered a heart-wrenching update on a beloved character that will leave fans devastated.
Ryan Connor, portrayed by Ryan Prescott, first graced the cobbles of the ITV soap in 2006, with Ben Thompson initially playing the role. As Michelle Connor’s (Kym Marsh) son, it didn’t take long for Ryan to become embroiled in various dramatic storylines.
From steroid misuse to engaging in online sex work, Ryan’s stint in Weatherfield has been anything but dull. His romantic escapades have also frequently been the subject of local gossip.
Ryan has had his fair share of romances on the cobbles, including relationships with Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote), Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), and an affair with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Moreover, in 2023, he was the unintended victim of a horrific acid attack when Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) tried to throw acid at Daisy, only for Ryan to heroically shield her. Consequently, he sustained life-altering injuries, reports the Daily Star.
Recently, however, Ryan and his aunt Carla (Alison King) took a hiatus from the street to attend a family funeral in Ireland.
In Thursday’s episode (October 30), Carla returned to Weatherfield – but without Ryan. According to Carla, much to the disappointment of fans, Ryan will be staying in Ireland for a bit longer.
Earlier this year, actor Ryan travelled to Vancouver with his Corrie co-star Mikey North, who is known for his role as Gary Windass in Weatherfield.
Some fans of the long-standing programme might not be aware that Corrie has a significant following in North America, with cast members occasionally hosting meet and greets when Canadian fans make the journey to the UK to visit the set at MediaCityUK in Trafford.

Ryan and Mikey were the latest to jet off across the Atlantic, with Ryan sharing a sneak peek of their trip on social media, which included some sightseeing for the duo.
Alongside his Instagram post, Ryan wrote: “Vancouver, thank you very much for having us. We loved every minute. #vancouver.”
His Corrie colleague Claire Sweeney was quick to comment, posting: “Fabulous,” before fans also chimed in with their responses.
