General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud Opens up on Her Midlife Crisis After Leaving Soap

As General Hospital’s Britt continues to face chaos in her life, it seems that her portrayer, Kelly Thiebaud, has also experienced challenges outside the soap opera during her time away from the show. She recently returned to her role in GH, but between her 2023 exit and comeback, Thiebaud went through some personal struggles that had a significant impact on her.

Kelly Thiebaud says ‘I went through a bit of a midlife crisis’

Kelly Thiebaud, who portrayed Britt on General Hospital until 2023, quit the show and decided to move to London to live with her partner at the time. However, things did not go as planned.

“I’ve heard so many people say how wonderful their 40s are, and I’m hoping to get to that point,” Thiebaud said in an interview with Woman’s World. “When I was turning 40, I went through a bit of a midlife crisis. I was single, I obviously felt the pressure of the baby clock ticking, and I kind of panicked. I ended up making some decisions that really set me back and hurt me,” she added.

Of course, as things crumbled around her, Thiebaud had to bravely stand up and make some big decisions. She finally moved back to California, and eventually moved back to GH as well. “I’m feeling a little bit more like myself, but a different version of myself,” she said. “One of the biggest lessons I’ve finally learned is never to put someone else above myself and always protect myself first. Better late than never, I guess! I hope I can take those lessons and have an amazing rest of my 40s.”

In the same interview, she also discussed her transition to London. She explained that she came to love the city much later. She added that she still plans to return to London from time to time.

Now, Thiebaud seems to be in a stronger place personally. Her character also remains at an intriguing point in General Hospital.
