Coronation Street fans clear up Roy confusion in Becky return plot

Coronation Street fans have cleared up the confusion involving Roy Cropper in regards to Becky Swain’s return storyline.

The thought-to-be-deceased police officer stunned Lisa at the end of Monday’s (8 September) episode, with the figure returning from the dead as she stood opposite her wife for the first time in four years.

The dramatic reveal came on Betsy’s birthday, with Roy arriving earlier in the day to hand her a cake. As he stood in the Swain household, he looked perturbed by something, though he didn’t divulge what.

Later in the episode, Roy went to the hospital as he rallied around his family following Tyrone Dobbs’s tragic hit-and-run, though Evelyn Plummer demanded he explain his mood after she noticed his mind was elsewhere.

“I saw someone it shouldn’t be possible to see. But as to their identity, I cannot divulge that to anyone other than Carla,” he explained as he left the hospital, with Evelyn not looking best pleased.

These developments came after Roy bumped into a mysterious woman at the hospital last week, though he didn’t think anything of it at the time. We now know that the woman in question was Becky, with the reveal now explaining Roy’s distracted nature.

As eagle-eyed fans pointed out on Facebook, Roy’s demeanour in the Swain household could be explained by the fact that he saw a photo of Becky, who he recognised as the woman from the hospital.

“He saw her at the hospital but didn’t think anything of it as he didn’t know her, but then he saw a picture of her in Lisa’s and knew he saw Lisa’s Becky and she’s meant to be dead,” wrote one viewer.

“For people confused. Roy bumped into Becky at the hospital when he went to the walk-in centre at the hospital for his back. And bumped into her literally. It was brief, and then round Carla’s he noticed the photo and was trying to put two and two together,” added another fan.
