Emmerdale fans issue same demand after Cain Dingle twist in Corriedale
The Emmerdale legend could be left in peril
Emmerdale fans issue same demand as Cain Dingle was given a worrisome diagnosis in the ITV crossover as two worlds collided.
Jeff Hordley joined Emmerdale in 2000. He first appeared on screen as the character Cain Dingle, but later left in 2006 to pursue other projects. However, the actor returned in 2009 to reprise his role and has become a staple character on the long-running soap ever since.
Cain has found himself in the midst of some of the biggest storylines over his years on the Yorkshire-based soap, including the discovery that Zak was his biological father and having a baby with Charity Dingle.
As a long-standing resident of the Dales, Cain has involved himself in many fights, feuds, affairs and taken on his fair share of villains who have been a threat to the Dingle clan.
In the last year, Cain stood by Moira’s side after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a meningioma. However, the couple almost separated for good when Moira learned that he had a one night stand with Ruby Miligan as she underwent life-changing surgery.
He was also heartbroken to learn that his son Nate Robinson had been murdered – and recently went on a man hunt to track down his killer John Sugden who had fled the country.
Cain Dingle was announced as being involved in Corriedale. A fourty-strong cast were involved as Coronation Street and Emmerdale merge, with beloved characters from both sides of the Pennines colliding in the life-changing event. Viewers were treated to two 30-minute episodes from both soaps prior to the hour-long special.
As Corriedale aired on ITV, Cain was determined to hunt John down after he had returned to the village and crashed the car where Aaron Dingle was also his passenger.

Running through the woods, Cain joined Robert and Corrie’s Kit Green to hunt down the serial killer. However, in a major twist Cain ended up getting shot by the villain.
That wasn’t the end of the drama, however, as when being treated for the wound in hospital later on, the doctor gave Cain his diagnosis – a mass was found.
Viewers went straight to social media to react, and on X (formerly known as Twitter), @rachel_mariexox said: “I’m in tears! Cain having cancer! Don’t kill him off!”
@desireandduty agreed: “#corriedale was amazing but don’t kill off emmerdale’s eye candy, Cain” as @miliganss_ added: “cain has a mass noooooo, i can’t do this”
