The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

The aftermath of Corriedale aired in today’s episode of Emmerdale and as expected, there was an awful lot going on.

Last night, the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collided as multiple residents from both neighbourhoods were caught up in a multi-vehicle collision on a main road.

It began when John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) let go of the wheel of his car and instructed Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) to take control instead, telling him that he’d understand how good it feels to have someone’s life in his hands. Aaron was in the passenger seat and holding a gun, and wasn’t able to stop the car from crashing into the vehicle with Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), Becky Swain (Amy Cudden), and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) inside.

Other characters from both soaps caught up in the crash included Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), Cain and Moira Dingle (Jeff Hordley and Natalie J Robb), and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

John was able to escape the crashed car and went on the run again with his gun. Aaron told Cain and eventually Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) about this, who went in search for the killer.

In the woods, Robert found John, but he also met DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who was searching for the crazed medic as well. The gun went off, but the bullet flew past Robert and hit Cain instead.

As Robert took Cain through the woods to get help, it allowed John to run off again.

We saw John dead on the woodland floor just before the episode ended, with Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) standing over his body. In the latest instalment, we learnt about what happened in the lead-up to this moment occurring.

In the hospital, after being told about John’s body being found, Aaron and Robert were discussing who could have killed him. Her guilt increasing, Vic confirmed to the couple that she killed her brother.

We learnt through flashback scenes that John had arrived at Vic’s house with a syringe. He believed that he needed to drug Vic and her son Harry, collect Aaron, and then they could all be together.

Vic was drugged by John, but woke up when she heard Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) knocking on the door. He told Vic about the crash, and she knew that John was involved.

In the woods, John grabbed Vic in an attempt to stop her from telling the police about him. As she fought her brother on the floor, Vic managed to get the syringe from John’s pocket. She stabbed him with it, but he – just like Nate Robinson – had a bad reaction to it and died.

Vic had no idea this would happen and, in her panic, cleaned the syringe and placed it in John’s hand, making it look as though he drugged himself.

Victoria told Robert and Aaron in the hospital that she’s confident no one saw her – but this wasn’t true.

Watching her in the distance was Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who was recording the situation on his phone.

It’s not clear at the moment how much Joe saw, but he learnt from Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) earlier in the day that John is dead, so he will more than likely work out that Vic had something to do with it, if he didn’t know that already.

Joe was only at the scene of the crash because he drove Robert to find Aaron. He’s a Tate, he’s going to want something in return – but what will it be, given he has this footage of Vic as well?
