Coronation Street fans convinced Corriedale scene ‘seals’ Carl’s downfall in shock twist

ITV soap fans received a late Christmas present on Monday when Emmerdale and Coronation Street teamed up for the explosive Corriedale special. From the tragic death of Billy Mayhew to Carl Webster framing his half-sister Debbie for his drunk-driving crime, the episode kicked off the New Year with enough drama for 2026.

While Carl played a big part in the huge car collision that injured and killed a number of people, the Weatherfield villain moved his unconscious passenger, half-sister Debbie, into the driving seat to blame her for the crash. However, fans are sure that he won’t get away with it after pointing out one big detail that many missed in the episode before.

Writing on Coronation Street’s Reddit page, one fan wrote: “The episode of corrie before corriedale – Just rewatching and noticed Michael and Daniel also saw Carl driving the car with Debbie in it! Do you think this is how it gets found out possibly?” they said.

Meanwhile, another said: “I think Ronnie will see the seat belt bruises.” A third wrote: “Surely the location of her bruising would have been noted in hospital.”

Last night’s episode saw Carl discover that he had an underlying heart condition which had sent him into shock after crashing the car.

Shortly beforehand, viewers had watched as brother Kevin considered switching off his brother’s life support at the end of Corriedale after he’d discovered Carl’s affair with his wife Abi.

After Carl came to, Kevin tried to argue that he was the one driving, but Debbie insisted: “I’ve told you what went on. I’m not going through it all again.

“I know you hate Carl, but it’s not his fault. It’s mine. Now go home.” Instead of going home, Kevin raced back to Carl’s bedside to have it out with him.”

Carl then taunted Kevin over him failing to turn off his life support machine, saying: “It didn’t work, did it? I’m still here.” To which Kevin replied: “Yeah, well, let’s see for how long, eh?”

Fans rushed to social media to predict that Carl may actually die at the hands of his own brother. “Anyone else kind of want Kevin to beat Carl to death with a spanner from Webster’s Garage for leaving Debbie in the driver’s seat so they’d think she was driving?” one fan wrote.

Another said: “I need Kevin to kill Carl with his bare hands when he finds out that Carl framed Debbie and left her to die!”
