Emmerdale’s Bradley Riches gives wedding update almost two years after proposal

Emmerdale actor Bradley Riches shared a wedding update on his social media after confirming the date he’ll be tying the knot.

Actor Bradley Riches first stepped foot in Emmerdale earlier last year when he made his ITV debut as Lewis Barton. His arrival came as a shock for Moira Dingle and Ross Barton, as they had no idea that Emma Barton had another child before her death.

It turned out that Emma had given Lewis up for adoption when he was a baby, but he came to the village searching for answers to learn more about his biological family.

After his initial horror of learning that Emma had been killed, Lewis has found a home in the village, recently having moved in with Ross and Vinny Dingle, as well as getting a job with Nicola King at the cafe.

In recent episodes, it was revealed that Kev Townsend is Lewis’ biological father after a one night stand with Emma. However, Nicola wanted to protect Lewis from the truth and blackmailed Kev into leaving the village.

Lewis is also the first neurodivergent character in the Dales, and with Bradley being autistic in real life he recently admitted: “Seriously playing Lewis an autistic character on Emmerdale has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life.

“As an autistic actor, stepping into this role feels deeply personal- finally getting to bring my whole self to the screen, without masking, without shrinking.

“It’s a reminder of how real burnout and masking can be, and how important it is to show those layers with honesty and care. I’m proud, I’m seen, and I’m so incredibly grateful to help tell a story that means everything to me.”

Outside of the Dales, Bradley took to his Instagram in 2024 and revealed that he is engaged to now-fiancé Scott Johnston after the actor left the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Taking to his social media, he shared a wedding update as he posted a selection of wedding cakes and penned: “Wedding cake tasting is going VERY well”.

This comes after he shared that they’ll be getting married on April 8 2026 as he wrote: “4 months until we say ‘I do’” back in December. As 2025 came to a close, Bradley shared the video of his proposal once more and added: “2020 was my favourite yet but… 2026 gonna be even better as I get to marry my best friend”.

He continued: “2026 I’m gonna be a HUBBY WTF?” as his co-stars flocked to the comments in support. Lisa Riley wrote: “LOVE” as Lucy Pargeter added: “Amazing” followed by a heart emoji.
