Coronation Street fans have been sharing a plea to show bosses as they revelled in Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s reunion following months of turmoil for the couple.

The couple’s reunion has been a long time coming for fans, who have dubbed the pair ‘Swarla’, after their relationship was torn apart by the arrival of Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain, in September, despite it being believed that she had died in the line of duty.

Becky’s appearance back in September came on her and Lisa’s daughter Betsy’s 18th birthday, as well as days after Lisa popped the question to Carla and the pair became engaged. It was clear her plan was to tear Lisa’s new, happy life apart and get her family back together, four years after faking her death.

She soon succeeded in splitting Lisa and Carla up as she plotted to run away with Lisa and their daughter. In a bid to get what she wanted, Becky kidnapped Carla and convinced Lisa to join her and Betsy for a new life abroad. But that was before her fake death was exposed once and for all.

After DC Kit Green, who was working with Carla to try and get to the bottom of Becky’s scheme, found the Underworld factory boss, the unlikely duo were able to stop Becky in her tracks – but after she had already been involved in a horrific car crash on the way to Hull to catch a ferry to Rotterdam.

Thankfully, Lisa and Betsy survived, as did Becky. But her future is quite bleak after Lisa, despite being treated in an ambulance, arrested her, and viewers have since seen her be sentenced to 12 years for her crimes.

But Becky’s prison sentence didn’t lead to an immediate reunion for Lisa and Carla, as, despite Lisa’s apologies and attempts at reconciliation, Carla seemed unable to forgive her, knowing she hadn’t been listened to when it came to her concerns about Becky, and that she’d slept with her ex during her period of disappearance.

However, all that changed this week and after Lisa’s drunken outburst, Carla softened as during Thursday’s (January 22) edition of Corrie, Carla attempted to sort a hangover cure for her partner, before she later told Lisa that she loved her. Despite saying it would take time and they’d need to take things slow, the loved-up couple kissed before heading upstairs.

And Carla’s plan to hold back didn’t last too long as heading to the Rovers later on, she promptly announced to her factory employees that she and Lisa were back together again and ordered two bottles of champagne to celebrate.

But it’s fair to say that Swarla fans want an easier time for the couple going forward and were quick to make a demand. @lanaklaineswen1 said: “SWARLA!!!!!! Now please make the wedding as drama free as possible.”
