Young & Restless’ Abby is grateful to have Dom back in her arms, but will she ever be able to forgive Mariah for what she’s put them through? Melissa Ordway teases that it may be a rocky road ahead.

Abby may have been relieved that Mariah was the one who took Dom from the backyard of the Chancellor Estate, after all, a friendly kidnapper who cares about the kid is best-case scenario, but that doesn’t mean she’ll be quicker to get over the emotional trauma and forgive.

Mariah may not have been herself, given she was having a psychotic break brought on by her own trauma, but the bottom line is that she put Abby and Devon through a parents’ worst nightmare, and shook up the boy pretty good to boot.

As Ordway pointedly stated to Soap Opera Digest, “How do you get past that?” It’s almost more of a betrayal given that the person who took your beloved child and made you feel absolute terror was someone you fully trusted.

Ordway explained that what’s even worse for her alter-ego is the “the intention behind it, of running away forever and being his [Dom’s] new mom.”

As Young & Restless fans will recall, Abby and Mariah used to despise one another. Their introduction was a rivalry over Tyler, who was with Abby, but had a past with Mariah. And while they’ve come a remarkably long way from that, considering that Mariah was her surrogate, as we’ve all learned watching soaps, there’s a thin line between love and hate… and these two could easily cross it again.

If anything was going to set Abby and Mariah back from friends to enemies, kidnapping her child should do it. Of the rivalry, Ordway teased, “It’s interesting to see if any of that will be brought back up.”
