Emmerdale: Mandy Dingle leaves with son Vinny

Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle found himself apologising after his new relationship was publicly exposed.

As viewers of the ITV soap will recall, Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) gave in to their feelings for one another and shared a passionate kiss on Tuesday (February 24).

Throughout last year, the chemistry between the pair had been intensifying as the housemates grew closer and appeared to share flirtatious moments.

On Thursday (February 26), Vinny and Lewis were the picture of happiness as they confirmed their relationship in a sweet exchange with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) at The Hop, who was thrilled by the revelation and became over excited.

“You two, like together, as an item”, Mandy whispered in a loud tone before congratulating the happy couple, reports the Daily Star.

Vinny swiftly interrupted his mum’s celebration by requesting she keep her voice down, indicating his ex-wife Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) was possibly within earshot.

“It’s just nice to finally have some good news, that’s all”, Mandy added as she beamed at the happy couple. Yet it seemed Gabby overheard Vinny’s announcement and looked on unimpressed.

Later in the episode, not wanting to hurt his ex-wife’s feelings, Vinny apologised to Gabby for Mandy’s overreaction, who seemed to take the news with maturity.

“It’s fine”, Gabby reassured him, “We live in the same village. Of course, we’re gonna bump into each other.”

Vinny swiftly replied: “We shouldn’t have been in here in the first place”, but Gabby immediately countered: “Vinny, look, I am happy for you and Lewis”, whilst displaying a hint of sadness across her features.

Vinny and Gabby began their relationship in 2024 and had plans to build a new family life with her son, Thomas. However, they ended their marriage in October 2025, mere weeks following their wedding.

The separation followed revelations of unfaithfulness, with Gabby confessing to being unfaithful to Vinny whilst in Portugal, as he grappled with questions surrounding his sexuality. Yet it seems the former partners have now set aside their disputes, as he has found contentment with Lewis.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale audiences criticised Mandy for her lack of sensitivity towards Gabby, whilst simultaneously applauding Vinny and Lewis’ budding romance.

Writing on X, one Emmerdale viewer questioned: “What was Vinny thinking, telling Mandy about him and Lewis getting together at the hop, where Gabby has a front row seat to see them? #emmerdale.”
