Fans of ITV soap Emmerdale predict Jacob Gallagher’s boss Doctor Todd will catch the eye of someone in the village

Emmerdale fans are convinced Jacob Gallagher’s boss Doctor Todd could be the love interest of a villager.

Trainee Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) is struggling at work in the ITV soap as his mentor has been putting him under a lot of pressure at the hospital, calling him out over minor errors and making him uncomfortable.

It was confirmed earlier this year that actress Caroline Harker is reprising her role as Doctor Todd for a compelling new storyline exploring workplace bullying and power dynamics.

Speaking about her return, Caroline commented: “I’m delighted to be back at Emmerdale for a longer stint playing Doctor Todd.

“She’s a complex character and from what I’ve been told so far, quite a tricky one for Jacob to navigate. Workplace bullying is commonplace, and it will be interesting to see it brought to our screens in a serial drama such as Emmerdale.”

While some fans predict a shock romance between Dr Todd and Jacob, who is married to Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), others believe Dr Todd could be a new love interest for villager Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson)

One person posted: “I think Dr Todd is going to be Mary’s next love interest.” Another added: “Dr thingy going to be Mary’s next squeeze….? #emmerdale.”. A third said: “Mary going to be with the doctor?”

Fans will know that Mary has been on a journey of late-life discovery, marked by significant heartbreak and a recent tragic secret.

Since coming out as a lesbian to her daughter Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) shortly after her arrival in the villa back in 2022, she has navigated complex relationships and scams.

Mary’s first major relationship after coming out was with Faye Helders (Jane Gurnett), who she met on a dating app. This ended in disaster when Faye was revealed to be a con artist who scammed Mary out of money and later released revenge porn of her.

She later developed deep feelings for Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) leading to a complicated “love triangle” involving Suzy’s on-off partner, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).

Shortly before Suzy’s death in a limousine crash in February last year, Suzy confessed she was in love with Mary and intended to leave Vanessa for her.

Fans will have to wait and see if there’s love on the cards for Dr Todd and Mary.
