General Hospital’s Ethan Returning — With His OG Portrayer In the Role

Did somebody order a tall drink of water? ’Cause General Hospital will soon be serving up one in the form of Nathan Dean, who’s reprising his role of Luke and Holly’s son, Ethan. “We are so excited that [he] is returning this April,” executive producer Frank Valentini tells TV Insider. “We have a great story planned — with, of course, a few twists along the way.”

Since the former Nathan Parsons wrapped his initial 2009-12 stint in Port Charles, he’s made quite a name for himself in primetime, starring in not one but two vampire dramas (True Blood and The Originals), recurring on Once Upon a Time and headlining the 2019-22 reboot of Roswell.

Several times over the years, the actor returned to the soap, including to help facilitate the retirement of his on-screen dad, Anthony Geary. But the last time we saw Ethan, he’d been strangely recast with blond James Ryan. (Not that that blip of an appearance made much of an impact.)

It will be interesting to see where the character’s story takes him this time around. Dare we hope that, as he reconnects with half sister Lulu, he brings a little romance back into the life of beleaguered Kristina, who hasn’t had a love interest since pushing away significant other Blaze?
