Iain Dean – A man who throws himself into danger to save other people, is very close to becoming a father in Casualty
Iain Dean (Michael Stevenson), a man who throws himself into danger to save other people, is very close to becoming a father in Casualty.
The beloved character has spent the past few weeks coming to terms with the fact that Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) is carrying his child, and it’s attending a shout in this week’s episode that leads Iain to a realisation about his future.
Elsewhere, the ED is eerily quiet this week due to the department not being allowed to take major trauma patients. Multiple team members are pretty bored, and Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) decides to distract them – and herself – by adjudicating a wheelchair race down a corridor.
Afterwards though, Siobhan makes a discovery about the man who attacked her, leading to a panic attack.
A staff member feeling the pressure this week is Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari), who learns two colleagues will have to leave if the hospital fails the next CQC inspection.
Responsible for a number of nurses, Rida suddenly starts to question her ability as a Band 6 Nurse.
Here’s a peek at the drama unfolding in tomorrow’s episode of Casualty.
Reality hits Iain
The ED is closed to major trauma at night, meaning Jan Jennings (Di Botcher) has to divert ambulances to St James’. While at her station, Jan answers a call to blood-chilling screams begging for help for her baby.
When Iain and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak) arrive at the scene, Iain’s forced to contain his own emotions as he witnesses Emma cradling baby Micah, who’s been crushed. Iain rushes to St James’ but with Micah deteriorating, he doesn’t know if they’ll get there on time.
Losing his cool, Iain pushes Jan to let them go to Holby, but he faces another problem when the ambulance breaks down.
He races out of a tunnel and pushes into the house on a local estate. Iain prepares a needle, but he’s suddenly reminded of just how little Micah is and cannot bring himself to do the needle decompression.
Iain’s hit with paralysing panic, but eventually manages to stabilise the baby after using a different needle.

In the ED, Iain waits with bated breath as the team treat Micah. Later, it dawns on Iain that when he becomes a father, his life will never be the same again.
Siobhan gets desperate

Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) and Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) clock a despondent Shiv, who reveals that the CPS aren’t pursuing her case.
Needing a distraction, Siobhan decides to adjudicate a wheelchair race between some of his colleagues.
The race is too close to call, so they check the CCTV, but Shiv’s blood runs cold when she spots Chris Banfield on the tape for today.
In the station, DI Hughes tells Siobhan that there’s nothing they can do about Chris, even though she believes he went to the ED to taunt her. Siobhan races back to the ED and trashes her office in the middle of a panic attack.
Flynn arrives and sits with Shiv. She explains that there is a way Flynn could help – by finding Chris and hurting him.
But will he do it?
Dylan and Stevie continue to mentor

Matty Linklater (Aron Julius) and Kim Chang (Jasmine Bayes) are feeling somewhat separated from the rest of the team after last week. Concerned, Dylan tries to help Matty by admitting that he still remembers the name of a patient he misdiagnosed in his first shift after graduating.
He tries to push Matty to learn rather than run away from his mistakes.
Meanwhile, Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) tricks Kim into proving she can read medication packets, but Kim shrinks with guilt when Stevie brings up misreading the lumbar puncture instructions.
Rida’s stress levels increase

Rida learns that failing the next CQC inspection will mean losing two staff members.
When Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) treats Avani, the team suspect she might be a mystery shopper for the CQC. Rida confronts her, but she wants the ground to swallow her up when Avani mentions that her husband plays golf with the CEO.
Feeling inadequate, Rida finds Flynn and instructs him to put her name down on the redundancy list.
