Did General Hospital’s Jack Blackmail Josslyn Into the WSB?

Well, everything’s finally been laid out in the open between General Hospital‘s Carly and Josslyn: Valentin hiding out in Carly’s attic, Josslyn being a WSB agent, Jack’s betrayal of Carly — all of it. (Though Josslyn doesn’t know that her mom and Valentin just slept together, and hopefully, it stays that way.)
One of the biggest sticking points in the blowup (and among fans) has been on whether Josslyn was forced into this life, or if she chose it. Carly figured that Jack blackmailed Joss into joining the WSB, and her daughter did say that joining the WSB was the price for “justice” — meaning her killing Cyrus. But then she made clear to her mom, this was her choice. She was doing this to take down Sonny and everyone like him. Maybe she figured this was the only way to get justice for, well, everyone.
So was Josslyn, as Carly feared, forced into the WSB by Jack? Chris McKenna tried setting the record straight over on X. “It’s pretty wild watching people choosing what they wanna believe over what actually happened on air,” he wrote. “Jack never blackmailed Joss. You thought he was gonna but he didn’t. Plenty of reason to hate Jack without making stuff up, imho.

And for those who wanted receipts, he brought them, tweeting out the deciding conversation between Brennan and Josslyn below:
Jack may have taken advantage of the situation and encouraged her to join the WSB, claiming she’d be an incredible agent, but he didn’t push it in exchange for his silence in her killing of Cyrus. And, McKenna added, Jack didn’t know Josslyn was going to kill Cyrus in cold blood.
But he still puts a healthy amount of blame on Brennan for leading Josslyn to Cyrus in the first place and not stepping in before it got to murder. Which gets back to the “plenty of reason to hate Jack” part of things.
Jason’s take may have been a bit more spot on, as he told Josslyn that Jack’s manipulating her. And Joss, in turn, threw it back at Jason’s face, saying Sonny’s been manipulating him. It’s all one big mess — and as General Hospital fans picked up on right away, full of hypocrisy!
And in the end, who are we rooting for here? Jack, if he really is trying to do good and fight Sidwell and Cullum? Whether or not he blackmailed Josslyn, he certainly seems to have taken advantage of what he could to rope her into the WSB.

Are we rooting for Josslyn and her attempt to take down Sonny? In the real world, taking down a mob king pin is a worthy goal, but in Port Charles? Sonny’s an inextricable part of life. He’s not going anywhere and she’s just going to make a lot of enemies onscreen and off!
What about Carly? We totally get why she doesn’t want her daughter in a dangerous career or want her to run around killing people. But her arguments against it all fall kind of flat after decades of her mixed-up mob life, her harboring a fugitive, her love affairs with murderers…
And Jason? Well, he was caught between lying to his best friend and protecting her daughter’s secret. Should he have betrayed Josslyn’s trust? He’s being pulled in every direction here, and there just doesn’t seem to be a winning one.
We know General Hospital has, for a long time, blurred the lines between the good guys and the bad guys, but boy would it be nice to have someone we feel good about cheering on!
