Why 1,000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton Refused This on Her Wedding Day
Amy Slaton was keeping her eyes on the big day. Literally.
Because the 1,000-Lb. Sisters star didn’t let eye surgery stop her from achieving her vision of “Victorian elegance” for her Oct. 31 wedding to Brian Lovvorn.
Although she did refuse one part of her bridal makeup routine, telling her makeup artist in E! News’ exclusive look at the March 10 finale, “I don’t want lashes.”
As the 38-year-old explained, she was being cautious as her eye alignment surgery had taken place only 10 days before.
“The doctor knew about the wedding and didn’t say, ‘Hey, don’t put on eye makeup,” Amy said during a confessional. “But I do not risk the glue.”
The way she saw it, “My eyes already come with lashes, I’m good.”
While the wedding was a fairytale, the same cannot be said for the road to the altar.
“Y’all… life don’t always happen one thing at a time,” Amy wrote on Instagram March 3 alongside a video showing the behind-the-scenes timeline. “Sometimes it all comes at you at once.
“One minute I’m dealing with eye surgery, the next minute we’re getting ready for a wedding rehearsal,” she continued. “That’s just how life be sometimes—messy, painful, emotional, and beautiful all at the same time.”
Despite the difficult road Amy was reminded “that even after hard days, love still wins.”
“Thanks to everybody who’s been sending love and prayers,” she said. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is just show up anyway.”
And preferably, show up in style. Because for the couple—who got engaged just five months after dating inside a haunted house—their wedding had a specific attire: Spooky.
“Let’s just say our bridesmaids are going to be ghosts,” Amy—who chose the Talbott Tavern Restaurant & Inn, the site of many reported supernatural activities, as her venue—told her planner on the Jan. 6 episode. “I’m talking real-life ghosts—not costumes.”
The finale of season eight of 1000-lb Sisters airs March 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. For now, keep reading for a deep dive into the rest of Amy’s family.
