Coronation Street fans have issued a demand for Ryan Connor after spotting when they called a ‘special’ move.

The popular character is played by Ryan Prescott in the ITV soap, with the actor having started in the role back in 2018.

However, the character was first introduced to Weatherfield in 2006 and played by Ben Thompson until 2010, when Ryan accepted a university placement in Glasgow. Two years later, however, he was kicked out of his course and returned home, hooked on cocaine.

Sol Heras then took on the role from 2012 to 2013, when Ryan went to Ibiza to work as a DJ. Five years later, there was another change as Ryan was recast in the role in 2018, when his character’s job in Ibiza fell through and he moved back in with his mum, Michelle, played by Kym Marsh.

Following a more recent absence, Ryan was seen back on the cobbles and quickly making up the Connor-Swains family unit, much to fans’ delight.

And it was during the latest episode of Corrie on Wednesday night (September 17) that fans were quick to flood social media with comments as Ryan came to Betsy Swain’s aid.

Those who follow the long-running show saw the teenager come face-to-face with her mum, Becky Swain, who she and her other mum, Lisa Swain, thought had died in the line of duty almost four years ago.

It was last week that Becky left Lisa shocked when she revealed she is very much alive by unexpectedly showing up in the living room of No.6 Coronation Street, her new home with her fiancee, Carla Connor.

Lisa struggled to believe Becky was standing in front of her, and was unable to get her head around the fact that Becky had allowed her and their daughter, Betsy, to grieve her for so long despite her whole death being fake.

Becky explained that she had spent the last four years in Spain under another name after being put into witness protection, following an undercover operation gone wrong.

Lisa was furious to discover that Becky had been targeting a dangerous gang, which had ultimately put the whole family in danger and led to the decision for Becky to go into hiding.

Since then, Lisa has clearly been battling with her feelings, while also trying to get to the truth of what really happened. She confronted her boss, DI Costello, but he confirmed Becky’s version of events.

Carla has been trying her best to support her partner, particularly as Becky keeps showing up in their home, but while Lisa didn’t want Betsy to know about Becky’s return from the dead, she found out anyway.

With a clear instruction to stay away, Becky watched Betsy from a distance as she made her way to the precinct with her headphones on. When Ryan Connor, ran over to Betsy with his hood up, Becky misread the situation and jumped in to protect her daughter.

She was convinced she was dreaming, but Becky assured her that was not the case and after taking a moment, with Ryan’s support, she headed back to No.6 to tell her mum everything, before realising she already knew.

Away from the ongoing Becky saga, Corrie fans flocked to social media to heap praise on Betsy and Ryan’s relationship, and also made a demand for Ryan to get more storylines.
