Emmerdale fans issue demand as Charley Webb seen with former co-stars amid new role

Charley played Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap up until 2021

Emmerdale fans have issued the same demand for Charley Webb as she posed alongside two of her former co-stars after taking on a new role.

Actress Charley Webb made her Emmerdale debut as Debbie Dingle back in 2002 before leaving in 2019 before taking a break and returning for a guest stint which spanned from 2020 to 2021.

Fans may recall that Debbie originally left the village for Scotland and has been mentioned a few times since including when Zak Dingle went to visit her before his death.

The last update we received on Debbie was that she had moved to Australia without warning as her daughter Sarah Sugden rang to tell her about her cancer diagnosis.

Earlier this year, Charley opened up about a potential return to the ITV soap after fans have demanded Debbie Dingle back in the Dales for years.

The actress admitted: “I would never say never, it’s just not the right time for me right now to be back there. I want to get the kids sorted, and I feel like I need to be in a different headspace to be able to go back there. It just doesn’t feel like the right time.”

Now, Charley posed alongside former co-stars Katie Hill and Emma Atkins as they showed up to support her in her roles as Abigail in Ladies Football Club.

The play follows the true story of WWI-era factory women in Sheffield forming a pioneering football team, with 11 women who with men away fighting in the trenches step in to work in Sheffield’s munitions factories and who relax by kicking a ball about during their lunch break.

Explaining her character in the play, Charley said: “She has five children, her husband is obviously at war, and she doesn’t really want to get involved with the football at first – it is quite a slow process.

“She’s someone who will say things how it is. She’s very straight-to-the-point. She’s not afraid to give her opinion. She does go on quite a good journey from start-to-finish.”

Eagle-eyed fans of the ITV spotted that Charley shared a snap with Katie and Emma captioned: “Over and Out Abigail. Ladies Football Club”, and on X (formerly known as Twitter), @liiarla wrote: “the girls back together”.

@emscharity2 added: “Charley Webb, Emma Atkins, Marilyn Smith (Sheridan Smith’s mum) & Katie Hill. THIS IS MY BRAND” as @lcvingtaylor demanded: “charley webb you know what to do!!!”
