Coronation Street reveals Megan Walsh’s latest deceit tonight, as she confides in a counsellor about secretly terminating her pregnancy.
The villain’s claims of a miscarriage are entirely false, but her teenage victim Will Driscoll and his family all remain unaware of her lies.
In tense scenes on Thursday, Will simmers with rage following Megan’s allegation that she lost their baby after being attacked by his grandmother Maggie. Although Will is devastated, he can’t show his true emotions because he knows doing so could incriminate Megan in the child grooming case.
DS Swain pays a visit to The Rovers and sternly orders Maggie down to the police station, revealing that Megan has accused her of assault. Maggie firmly denies it and tries to wriggle out of giving a statement, but DS Swain isn’t taking no for an answer.
Later, Maggie pays a return visit to Megan’s flat and confronts her for lying about their recent altercation. Keen to avoid making the situation any messier, Megan explains that she’s already dropped the assault allegation. However, she makes it clear to Maggie that she’s lost the baby and claims that Daniel Osbourne was the father.
When Maggie returns home, she shares the news with her son Ben and his partner Eva Price. Nobody knows what to believe, as Ben reflects on how the baby could have been his grandchild.
Although Will is still determined to make Maggie pay for her alleged role in what happened, the truth is revealed behind closed doors as Megan meets with her counsellor…
Megan explains that she has polycystic ovaries, which make it more difficult for her to conceive. This was part of the reason she had originally decided to keep the baby after learning of her unplanned pregnancy.
Fearing she won’t get a second chance, Megan adds: “I had the chance to be a mum and I chose a termination. I’ve already got rid of one kid, why should I be trusted with another?”
It’s clear that Maggie’s recent outbursts have provided Megan with a convenient scapegoat as she tries to conceal the truth. But with pressure building for many of Weatherfield’s biggest villains this month, how long can Megan keep up her lie?
