Coronation Street fans fear another favourite could be leaving and have begged: “Please don’t.”

One of the ITV soap stars dropped a mysterious hint on social media, which has left some viewers fretting about their future on the famous cobbles.

There has been a major cast shake-up in recent months, with the departures of Paddy Bever, who played Max Turner and Sue Cleaver, who spent 25 years portraying Eileen Grimshaw.

Colson Smith also left fans devastated when his character Craig Tinker was killed off.

Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew is also due to leave the soap soon – and there’s now concern another key cast member may follow suit.

The Daily Star reports that Todd Grimshaw star Gareth Pierce recently shared images of his professional portrait on social media.

Followers were quick to read this as evidence the actor was considering fresh opportunities, as performers tend to refresh their headshots when seeking different roles.

One anxious fan commented: “I hope this doesn’t mean you are leaving Corrie.”

A second said: “Literally just came to ask this… Hope not!!”

Another simply said: “Please don’t be leaving!”.

Gareth has played Todd since 2020, replacing Bruno Langley who held the role from 2001 to 2017.

His character is currently embroiled in a distressing abuse storyline.

Todd recently began dating Theo, played by James Cartwright, but the romance has now taken a dramatic twist.

Discussing the new storyline, Gareth said: “Because Todd’s constantly calibrating what is normal and what is acceptable in the relationship.

“So very slowly things that are already crossing the line, that are already massive red flags are becoming slowly acceptable.

“That’s only going to get worse now at the point where it’s become physical and Todd is still able to convince himself that this is somehow fixable rather than a situation that he needs to walk away from.”
