Coronation Street star’s mum ‘catfished’ by ‘silver-haired’ man on dating app
Ryan Thomas’ mum, Gail Waring, has revealed her experience of being “wooed” on a dating app by a “silver-haired” catfish.
The mother-of-three, who is in her 70s, shares a close bond with her son, Coronation Street star Ryan, 41, and his twin brothers, Scott and Adam, 37.
However, single Gail was looking for companionship and turned to dating apps in the hope of meeting someone special.
After finding a profile she liked, trained nurse Gail began chatting and was immediately showered with compliments by the unidentified man.
During an episode of their podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bros, Gail shared that within 24 hours, she was wooed by the man, until she decided to Google his profile picture.

It was then she discovered that the image belonged to a male model.
In the podcast, Scott asked Gail: “Didn’t you try a couple of dating apps but you gave up in the end, didn’t you?”
Gail explained why she decided to abandon the apps, saying: “Oh no I got catfished.
“These guys put pictures of male models on in America and he was wooing me for about 24 hours with this picture of this male model – a silver-haired gorgeous looking fella.”, reports the Mirror.
She continued: “He was saying ‘you’re my princess and all that’ and then I Googled his picture and it was a male model. Anyway, I was totally catfished.”
Scott queried his mum about how she was wooed and what the catfish was saying, with Gail explaining: “He was saying, ‘do you love flowers my princess? I’ll shower you with flowers.’ I thought, this is too good to be true.”
When former Love Island star Scott asked if she’s prepared to “get back in the mix now,” Gail revealed she hadn’t been planning to.
The grandmother jested that with her three sons, she’d assumed they might have found someone for her.
Scott quipped: “I can’t even get myself a girlfriend,” before Ryan added: “Do you think I’m going to go around and say, ‘do you want to take my mum out for a drink and back to your house?'”.
Gail is the grandmother of Ryan and his former partner Tina O’Brien’s daughter Scarlett, who has become a familiar face on their social media profiles.
However, followers were swift to criticise a recent clip, which showed her dancing with her father and uncle Scott on TikTok, sporting a crop top and low-rise jeans.
As they moved to I Say a Little Prayer, TikTok viewers remarked on the 16 year old’s attire, with some branding the lighthearted clip “inappropriate”. Others defended the family, insisting she was simply enjoying herself – and called for people to leave her and the family be.
One critic of the footage stated: “Immediately thought this was wrong,” whilst another alleged: “If I was her mother I’d be really concerned about these videos they make just so the men can stay relevant.”
However, some defended the video as harmless and called for critics to “get a grip.”
One individual commented: “Scarlett looks pretty and dresses like most her age. If anyone sees a problem with it, they are the one with the problem.”
Another chimed in: “I love the clothes you are wearing …please ignore the trolls.”
A third added: “Get a grip people….keep doing what you’re doing and be the amazing people you are.”
The videos, which also showcase Scarlett’s uncle Adam, have garnered millions of views. The account boasts over half a million followers.
