If you tuned in to watch General Hospital today and found something else on your screen, you’re not alone. The ABC soap has been preempted, leaving fans wondering what happened to their daily dose of Port Charles drama.

The reason General Hospital wasn’t on today and will not be on tomorrow (and possibly Thursday) is the MLB Wild Card Series, which has taken over ABC’s daytime schedule. While that means no new General Hospital episode today, the soap isn’t going anywhere — and episodes will resume as scheduled once coverage wraps up.

The #4 Chicago Cubs (National League Central) and the #5 San Diego Padres (National League West) are facing off at the historic Wrigley Field, the home field of the Cubs. The Cubs won home-field advantage for the entire best-of-3 series by finishing higher than the Padres in the regular season. All games will air at 3:08 pm EST on ABC. The Cubs won game 1 of the series 3-1. If they win again tomorrow, the Wild Card Series will be over. If not, then there will be a third game played on Thursday. The winner of the Wild Card Series will go on to play the Milwaukee Brewers in the best-of-5 National League Division Series.

There should be no more ABC baseball preemptions this season because after the Wild Card Series, TBS will broadcast the National League playoffs, and Fox will broadcast the American League playoffs and the World Series.
