A FATAL MISTAKE? Jacob Left TERRIFIED After a Heart-Stopping Blunder as the Ruthless Dr. Todd Strikes!

Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker) is continuing to target Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) in Emmerdale, as the ITV soap airs a storyline that shines a light on workplace bullying.

We met Doctor Caitlin Todd last year, when Jacob began a placement at Hotten General Hospital. She returned at the start of 2026 and is continuing to mentor Jacob.

He’s an enthusiastic young resident doctor, but Jacob’s confidence is being chipped away at by Doctor Todd, who seems to take pleasure in attacking his character and making him question his ability as a doctor.

We saw this a few weeks ago, when Jacob landed in danger as a result of a vulnerable and troubled Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).

Bear was in A&E looking for some drugs to fuel the addiction he developed while on the farm. Jacob wasn’t able to administer any medication for him and took Bear to a quiet room instead, hoping it would help calm him down. A panicked Bear ended up squeezing Jacob’s neck so hard, viewers feared he was about to kill him the same way he murdered Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).

Jacob kicked a trolley over which startled Bear. In the aftermath, instead of ensuring her colleague was okay, Doctor Todd attacked Jacob over not following protocol.

Alongside belittling him, Todd is also forcing Jacob to run himself into the ground with extra work. He was tasked with writing research papers in an impossible timeframe and when he turned them around and presented them to Doctor Todd, she basically called them rubbish.

Earlier this week, Jacob was asked to tend to Kim Tate (Claire King), who had been brought into A&E after collapsing at the Dingle home.

Jacob conducted some tests, and believed that Kim’s symptoms matched up with mushroom poisoning.

But he was wrong.

In tonight’s episode, Doctor Todd arrived to see Kim and confirmed that painkillers had been found in her system. Kim, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) were all very surprised.

When the mushroom poisoning got mentioned, Todd was embarrassed and told the trio that it was clear there had been a misunderstanding. She wasn’t going to confront Jacob in front of them though – that would be saved for later.

Doctor Todd sent Jacob out of the room, and she proceeded to tell Kim, Joe and Dawn that they can make a complaint about him if they wanted.

In a private room, Doctor Todd told Jacob that he needs to apologise to Kim tomorrow in order to prevent her from suing. Jacob was apologetic, but couldn’t help recall a moment that happened yesterday.

According to Jacob, Doctor Todd seemed convinced that Kim had been poisoned by mushrooms. His efforts to stick up for himself fell pretty flat, as Doctor Todd wondered if he was accusing her of ‘distorting the facts’.

It was the equivalent of talking to a brick wall. Doctor Todd is the sort of boss who isn’t ever going to own up to her mistakes. If she can push the blame onto an exhausted student – she will.

While Jacob is struggling to speak up at the moment, he isn’t totally oblivious as to what Doctor Todd is doing.

His moment to expose his boss arrives soon when he witnesses Dr Todd manhandling and shouting at a patient.

Her crown slips, Jacob sees behind the curtain and realises he has pure evidence that she’s a bit of a witch.

It’s been hard to find when even the likes of Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) thinks Dr Todd can do no wrong. She needs bringing down a peg or five, and the perfect opportunity has just landed in Jacob’s lap.
