A fresh glimpse at Daddy, the highly anticipated sci-fi dark comedy, has dropped—and it’s already turning heads.

The film showcases Yuriy Sardarov in a role that marks a striking departure from his time as Otis on Chicago Fire. In

the long-running NBC series, Otis was beloved for his comic relief, affable nature, and unshakable loyalty to his

firehouse family. Despite the life-and-death stakes his character often faced, Otis brought levity and heart to the show, making his eventual exit a devastating moment for fans.

In Daddy, Sardarov sheds Otis’s easygoing charm to portray Sebastian, a man teetering on the edge of psychological collapse. Consumed by the need to maintain control in a chaotic environment where authority has all but vanished, Sebastian’s paranoia manifests in volatile confrontations with the other men at the retreat. This need to assert dominance leads to unsettling yet compelling moments, showcasing Sardarov’s intense performance.

The film, co-written and co-directed by Neal Kelley and Jono Sherman in their feature debut, explores reproductive rights through a thought-provoking and often chaotic lens. Sardarov himself was drawn to Daddy for its mysterious, layered storytelling, admitting, “I didn’t really get it at first. But that’s what drew me toward it—the mystery of it all.”

Beyond Sardarov, Daddy features a talented ensemble cast, including Jacqueline Toboni (The L Word: Generation Q), Britt Baron (GLOW), and Pomme Koch. The movie offers a sharp blend of dark humor and psychological tension as the characters grapple with both their isolation and their societal roles.
