Coronation Street actors who found love on soap supported after emotional family update
Coronation Street fans have shown their support for real-life couple Sally Carman and Joe Duttine after a heartwarming family update.
Sally – who portrays Abi Webster – and Joe – who stars as Tim Metcalfe – discovered romance on the ITV soap in 2018. The pair announced they had moved in together the following year.
By March 2020, Sally and Joe had taken their relationship to the next level with an engagement. Joe proposed during a lockdown stroll. After postponing their nuptials several times due to Covid, the delighted pair finally exchanged vows in July 2022.
Sally and Joe celebrated their union in a spectacular ceremony at St Philip’s Church in Salford, with Sally welcoming her new role as stepmother to Joe’s trio of children, reports the Daily Star.
The couple frequently share glimpses of their life beyond Coronation Street with their followers – from romantic getaways to domestic moments at their village home near Stockport.

Last week, Joe posted a charming photograph on Instagram featuring their beloved four-legged companion Fig. The snap showed the pooch positioned beside a pint glass, with Joe adding the caption: “…. hammered.”
Joe’s post delighted supporters who flocked to share their reactions. One fan commented: “Oh my, he’s so beautiful.” Someone else replied: “Aw cutie, mum and dad leading you into bad ways.” Another wrote: “Just so adorable.”
Sally herself joined in, joking: “Who’s going to drive us home.” Meanwhile, despite their off-screen happiness, Sally admitted to OK! Magazine earlier this year that performing alongside her husband is anything but perfect.
“I’d be very happy never to have a scene with him ever again,” she laughed. “I love Joe to bits, but I don’t like working with him – I’m never going to like working with him.
“Bless him, we’ve got very different work processes – let’s just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared; he likes to flesh it out on the floor.”
She added: “Also, he’s very funny. I’m such a giggler, and once I’ve gone, I’m gone. It’s terrible, and even if people get annoyed about it, it doesn’t help. He absolutely makes me howl with laughter, and he does it on purpose. I get cross with him because he knows the situation, but he can’t help himself.”
