Coronation Street confirms Dee-Dee’s exit plot tonight – in blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene

Coronation Street has confirmed the exit plot for Dee-Dee Bailey in tonight’s episode, which is available on streaming now, although it happened in a pretty brief blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene. The soap has been engaging in a trend of low-key departures lately, and this one looks to be no different.

In a scene towards the episode’s end, Dee-Dee is sat in The Rovers looking up a trip to Singapore on her laptop when her brother James comes over.

“Intriguing. Where’s that?” he asked, as she shut her computer and tried avoiding the topic.

“It’s just somewhere warm and hot,” she replied, adding that she was only “thinking about it” when James asked if it was a holiday or something else.

He then asked her if she’d be taking baby Laila – who they are co-parenting – and suggested that he’s happy to look after her in Weatherfield or come with them on the trip.

“I’ve saved up a bit. We can take it in turns to go partying,” he continued.

Clearly wanting to avoid the topic, Dee-Dee packed the laptop in her bag and quickly left the pub, leaving James and her drink behind.

Spoilers for next week confirm that Dee-Dee will share her “big news” with Alya Nazir, and that Maggie will have a go at her for dumping Ollie. But will there be drama with James too?

Channique Sterling-Brown recently spoke to us about her departure, saying: “I made the decision in spring – and it wasn’t a rash choice.

“I really took a couple of months from being offered my next year contract to actually even respond. I felt really torn, but I really just had the sense that it felt like the time.”
