Coronation Street fans heartbroken as Kevin Webster’s exit ‘sealed’ after 42 years
Coronation Street fans are speculating that Kevin Webster, a long-standing character, may soon be leaving the show.
Kevin, portrayed by Michael Le Vell since 1983, has recently been through a challenging period on the popular soap. This year, his world was rocked when he received a diagnosis of testicular cancer.
His family, including his wife Abi (played by Sally Carman) and sister Debbie (Sue Devaney), rallied around him. Debbie herself faced a devastating health crisis when she was diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Adding to the drama, Kevin and Debbie’s brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) made his first appearance after residing in Germany for several years. However, Carl quickly stirred up trouble.
Despite her initial resistance, Kevin’s wife Abi found herself falling for Carl. Eventually, they succumbed to their feelings and began a secret affair, fuelled by Abi discovering that Kevin had lied about his ongoing battle with cancer, reports the Daily Star.

Their secret was discovered by Kevin’s sister Debbie, who was outraged by their betrayal. Despite her fury, she vowed to keep their secret for the sake of Kevin’s children.
However, in the episode aired on Wednesday, October 8, Kevin uncovered the truth about Abi and Carl’s affair due to a significant slip-up by Abi during a family birthday celebration.
Kevin was furious upon making the discovery, and following a period of reflection, he had an intimate conversation with Abi. Still harbouring feelings for his spouse, Kevin even proposed that they remain united and progress together.
However, to his devastation, Sally maintained that her affections lay with Carl. Subsequently, Debbie offered comfort to Kevin, though she neglected to reveal her prior knowledge of Abi and Carl’s liaison.
Yet now, in what could prove a crushing development, supporters worry that Kevin’s departure might be imminent. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan group, one individual posted: “Are they building up to a male suicide storyline for Kevin?”.
Another contributed: “They could be. Like what they did Aidan,” referencing Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) taking his life in 2018. A third concurred: “I was thinking that, with everything he’s been through so sad.” Someone else proclaimed: “I bloody hope not, he’s better off without Abi!”
