Coronation Street spoilers see Kevin’s next move as Abi star speaks out on soap future

Coronation Street viewers witnessed Kevin Webster reach his lowest point during Wednesday’s instalment of the popular ITV soap.

In recent weeks, Kevin, portrayed by Michael Le Vell, has seen his world crumble after his wife Abi Webster abandoned him following a clandestine relationship with his estranged brother, Carl Webster.

The mechanic’s distress deepened when he discovered his sister Debbie Webster, who has lately been diagnosed with young onset vascular dementia, refused to sever contact with Carl, extending invitations to both siblings and Abi for her Christmas wedding to Ronnie Bailey.

At the ceremony, Carl’s web of deceit unravelled, revealing his affair with James Bailey, defrauding Debbie financially, his role in Tyrone Dobbs’ hit-and-run incident, and his intentions to flee to Germany once more – allegations he refuted.

Following excessive drinking, Carl attempted to drive away, but Debbie climbed into the vehicle, declaring he would have to take her with him, which he proceeded to do, reports the Daily Star.

Carl subsequently caused a multi-vehicle collision, leading to the minibus driven by Billy Mayhew from the wedding crashing into him, resulting in Billy’s tragic death after Theo Silverton abandoned him in the burning vehicle. In a disturbing turn of events, Carl moved an unconscious Debbie from the passenger side to the driver’s seat to evade prosecution for drink-driving and dangerous driving.

Kevin has been left devastated by recent events, particularly after he revealed he was aware Carl had swapped Debbie in the vehicle – which she denied, shielding Carl, who was recently revealed to be her biological son.

Following months of upheaval, Kevin hit rock bottom during Wednesday’s episode when he climbed onto the garage roof and refused to come down. Ultimately, it was his ex-wife Abi who scaled the building and persuaded him to descend as they sorted through their troubles.

Viewers have been left wondering what lies ahead for Kevin and whether this could pave the way for a reconciliation with Abi. Forthcoming storylines show Kevin attending court to support Debbie, who has taken the rap for Carl’s wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Sally Carman, who plays Abi, recently spoke to The Mirror about her character’s journey and what the future holds: “No, it never ends for Abi. She’s alright though. I think she’s okay now after Carl.”

Regarding the possibility of Abi and Kevin reuniting on the cobbles, she said: “I genuinely don’t know what they’re got planned in the script. I don’t know if Abi and Kevin will get back together.

“I love working with Michael Le Vell and I miss him, so as long as we’ll still have some scenes together – I’ll be okay.”
