Coronation Street fans have been left stunned to learn that the long-running show’s stars are already preparing Christmas in Weatherfield as they ‘let slip’ some details.
Jennie McAlpine and Alan Halsall were quizzed on what’s to come in the ITV soap as they appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss their latest storyline.
Fans were left in shocked this week when Alan’s character, Tyrone Dobbs, was revealed as the surprise victim of a hit and run at the precinct.
It wasn’t previously confirmed that the mechanic would be the victim of the horror car accident, with Betsy Swain previously thought to be the victim following the release of a trailer teasing what was to come on the cobbles in September.
Those who follow the soap know that Carl Webster is using the garage for his latest money-making scheme, and he was soon seen approaching Brody Michaelis and Dylan Wilson with details of their next job, having already enlisted the teens to help him to steal cars.

However, things quickly went disastrously wrong. As they stole their next car, Brody and Dylan were spotted speeding down the road by George Shuttlworth. The two lads then started arguing about Betsy and with them distracted, didn’t see her walking through the precinct.
As the stolen car beared down on her, Betsy braced for impact before there was a crash and a scream. But, when a panicked Lisa and Carla Connor arrived on the scene, while relieved to see Betsy in one piece, they were shocked to see the car had hit passerby Tyrone instead.
Speaking about the new storyline, as Tyrone is set to face challenges in his recovery, Alan told GMB hosts Suanna Reid and Ed Balls: “This is a big storyline and also a sensitive storyline that we’ve got to be careful with.
“Will he walk again? How’s it going to affect his family? It’s not just the physical aspect of what he goes through, but also the mental toll on his wife, his children, his nanna, his mum.”

During the same chat, Jennie, who plays Fiz Dobbs, confirmed that filming for the festive season is already underway, with Ed and Susanna keen to get information about Corrie’s upcoming 65th anniversary this December.
The actress said: “Spoiler alert, Ed, last week, me and Kirk [Sutherland, played by Andy Whyment] were already filming in the factory, the Underworld Christmas do,” she told co-host Ed Balls. “We both had a Santa hat on. His was sequined.”
Meanwhile, Alan also teased the upcoming historic crossover episode which will take place in 2026 and see characters from Corrie and Emmerdale sharing the screen.
“I know we’re doing a special episode later on in the year, I don’t know how public that is. That will be January time, I think,” Alan said. “There’s plenty happening, there always is on Coronation Street.”
But it was the Christmas news that surprised fans. @daisysmidgeley said: “Sorry what do u MEAN they’re already filming christmas?” @lariamaral28 replied: “3 months in advance omg.” @randomstuffxzxz added: “Coronation Street are already filming Christmas episodes…”
