Coronation Street trumps rival soaps at Inside Soap Awards bagging five wins
The ITV show which has been running now for 65 years swept the board bagging five trophies. The stars from The Street were out in force at a glitzy ceremony in London to collect the gongs.
Corrie landed the coveted best soap award for the second year running. Vicky Myers was named best actress for her portrayal of detective Lisa Swain.
And she and her co-star Alison King walked away with the award for best on screen partnership as Lisa Swain and Carla Connor. The Street won best storyline for Mason Radcliffe’s knife death and Abi Franklin’s PTSD.
And the best comic performance went to Jack P Shepherd as David Platt. Inside Soap’s editor Sarah Ellis commented: “It’s been an incredible year of drama, and the results in our Best Soap category were the closest they’ve ever been.
“Corrie’s win tops off a stellar year for the soap, and is no doubt helped by the huge popularity of Best Partnership winners Alison King and Vicky Myers, aka fan favourites Swarla.”
But the other TV soaps did not go home empty handed. Emmerdale’s Dingles won best family for the fifth time, the show got best showstopper for its limo crash stunt. Teen Amelia Flanagan who plays April Windsor was named best young performer for the fourth time.

EastEnders favourite Steve McFadden was crowned best actor for his powerful performance as Phil Mitchell. And co-star Laura Doddington picked up the best newcomer for her portrayal of wicked Nicola Mitchell.
Meanwhile Albert Square’s Navin Chowdhry was named best villain for the second year in a row for playing Nish Panesar and James Bye won best exit for Martin Fowler’s heartbreaking death in the 40th anniversary live episode.
Neighbours star Stefan Dennis, who is currently competing on Strictly, got best daytime star for his performance as baddie Paul Robinson. And the Aussie soap’s entire cast and crew were awarded a prestigious outstanding achievement trophy as the soap is going to be axed for good in December.
Ellis added: “All of the soaps have shone brightly in 2025. The fact that this year’s trophies are so evenly spread just goes to show what a strong year the whole genre is having.
“It really bodes well for the future of our soaps, especially as we gear up for the big Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover at the start of 2026. There’s never been a more exciting time to be a soap fan!”
