Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown ‘so excited’ as move after soap exit confirmed

Coronation Street star Channique Sterling-Brown has said she is ‘so excited’ as her first move since leaving the long-running show was revealed.

The actress made her TV debut in the role of Dee-Dee Bailey, the much-talked about daughter of Ed and Aggie Bailey, in 2022. She joined her family in Weatherfield three years after they arrived on the Street with their sons, and Dee-Dee’s brothers Michael and James.

Dee-Dee, whose actual name was Diana, quickly became a fan-favourite amongst viewers, going on to win Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards in 2023.

But it was in September that Channique took to social media telling fans of her plans to depart Weatherfield, taking to social media to say: “After three whirlwind years of Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided to say farewell to the cobbles. Bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but I am so excited for pastures new and enjoying the end of playing Princess Diana and her many expressions.”

Now, Channique has addressed what’s next for her. She reshared a post on social media which revealed she’ll be writing for Vignettes 2026 with HER Productions and Her-Place

The post rad: “We are so excited to announce the next writer for Vignettes 2026 – @channiquesb. Vignettes 8 will be staged in partnership with @herplace2025 – telling stories of women and mothers navigating social care systems. Please come join us for this very special event @hopemilltheatre in March 2026.”

Resharing the post to her Instagram Story, Channique wrote: “She’s in her writing era! So excited to be part of this!! Coming to @hopemilltheatre Spring 2026.”

It comes after Channique, in mid-Octoeber, took to social media and confirmed that her time filming for Corrie has come to an end. The soap star posted a beaming picture of herself outside the show’s Trafford-based set, alongside a picture of her completing the Manchester Half Marathon days earlier.

She then wrote on Instagram: “Thats a wrap x2! Quite the week, she doesn’t do things by half (except marathons).”
