Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien issues ominous warning over Emmerdale crossover episode
Coronation Street and Emmerdale‘s crossover episode is on its way, airing in the New Year to kick off ITV’s new 2026 soap schedule, and Tina O’Brien has teased that it’s not going to be a fun time for all the characters involved.
“We have to leave it up to the writers, but there may be some bad things,” the Sarah Platt actor said at the Pride of Britain Awards this week (via the Daily Star).
“There is a big episode coming up with the crossover episode, it’s really exciting.”

This follows on from soap boss Iain MacLeod revealing that someone won’t make it out of the crossover alive. “The soap gods demand a sacrifice when you have an event of this kind,” he said.
“Sometimes the biggest and best exits are for characters that you care the most about. It’s going to be shocking. There will be lots of trauma, lots of drama and lots of twists.”

MacLeod also said that there was a lot of behind the scenes back-and-forth about who’s going to be killed off.
“It’s a big responsibility, so we do agonise about it quite a lot and argue about it,” he said. “Our story conferences are fiery places at times, and this period of the show is no different.”
After the hour-long crossover airs, ITV’s new soap schedule goes into effect, with each soap airing five times a week with half-hour episodes.
Meanwhile, Hollyoaks just aired its Brookside crossover as part of its 30th anniversary.
