Emmerdale legend ‘to return’ 19 years after debut to save April from Ray
Emmerdale could be welcoming back a soap legend to save April Windsor from villain Ray Walters, according to fans.
April (Amelia Flanagan) is currently trapped in the dangerous world of drug dealing, along with Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle). At first, it was just Dylan working for dangerous dealer Ray (Joe Absolom).
However, soon enough, April was lured into the dodgy industry as well, taking on jobs for Ray after he decided she could be useful.
However, after April lost a bag of drugs when a guy pulled a knife on her during a drop off, Ray informed both her and Dylan that they were now in debt and had to continue to work to pay it off.
What the teens don’t know though, is that the vindictive and sinister Ray had set up April and paid the guy to scare her. Ray is now playing both April and Dylan and they have no choice but to work for him.

And this week, things take a dramatic turn when April ends up leaving younger brother Leo to drop off drugs. However, Leo ends up taking some drugs that April dropped and is quickly rushed to hospital.
Heartbroken, April insists to Dylan that they need to get of the dodgy dealings with Ray – but she has no idea Ray overheard every word and is determined to protect his empire.
But now, with more drama to come, fans are certain a former resident could be heading back to take down Ray and save April. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “Someone needs to get rid of Ray already, he’s horrible.”
Another fan chimed in and predicted April’s uncle Eli Dingle (Joseph Gilgun). They wrote: “I’d love it if Eli Dingle returned!” Another chimed in: “He’d defo sort Ray out!”
A third pointed out: “The actor who plays him is done with his show on Sky it’s called Brassic, so perfect timing for a return.” Someone else penned: “That’s true!”
Actor Joseph Gilgun portrayed Eli Dingle on the programme, making his debut way back in 2006. As the younger brother of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Eli became a firm favourite with viewers.
He also played a part in several big storylines too, including sleeping with cousin Debbie (Charley Webb) and assisting in Alice’s (Ursula Holden-Gill) suicide. However, in 2010, Eli fled the village after a robbery.
