Emmerdale star working as an electrician doing up castmates’ homes two years after ‘devastating’ soap axe…
AN EMMERDALE actor has switched careers and is now working as an electrician doing up his co-stars’ homes.
It comes after the ITV star was left “devastated” after his axe from the hit tea-time soap.
Sam Hall played Samson Dingle since he was aged five, but in 2024, he was told by producers that his character was being scrapped from the scripts.
At the time of his axe, when he was 20, his Emmerdale co-stars rallied around him after he admitted he was “gutted” following the shock cull.
His on-screen dad James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle, has now opened up on the young actor’s career switch.
He told Inside Soap: “I’d love Samson to return.

“Sam Hall, who played him, has become a friend of mine.
“He’s also a qualified electrician so has done a lot of work for me in my house!”
Talking about a potential return plot he added: “There’d be great stories to explore, like things that had happened to him in prison”.
Back in 2024, soap viewers watched as Samson was sentenced to four years in prison for violently attacking thug Josh.
In a video on the soap’s Instagram page after his exit, Sam said: “So as you’ve seen Samson has now left the village.
“It’s been a great storyline so I’d like to thank everyone who’s been with me, cast and crew, over the last 15 years.
“And hopefully we’ll see Samson again. See you later.”
When previously asked what his dream job would be outside of the Dales, the Bradford-born star said it would be an electrician, as he trained in the skill as well as acting.
Yet his TV exit caused controversy on the soap set two years ago.
A TV source said at the time: “Sam had a meeting with bosses earlier this month where they broke the news.
“He has been left devastated. He’s grown up with his on-screen Dingle clan and they are all very protective of him.”
They added: “As news of his axing swept through the building there were quite a lot of angry Dingles.
“He’s absolutely gutted.”
Sam has tackled tough storylines on the soap including being a teen dad after a fling.
He once said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute. I love being a Dingle.”
