Emmerdale’s April Windsor star reveals she’s been stranded at airport for 37 HOURS amid cancelled flights

EMMERDALE actress Amelia Flanagan has revealed she’s been stranded at Manchester Airport for over 37 hours.

The Iran war is wreaking havoc with flight schedules and a number of journeys have been cancelled.

April Windsor actress Amelia, 17, shared a photo from inside the airport last night.

In the empty departures terminal, she raised her arms in exasperated fashion.

Busy airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar — all of which are used as connecting hubs for other destinations — are running very limited services due to missile threats from neighbouring Iran.

More than 1,500 flights have been cancelled today around the globe and huge airlines like Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways have been affected.

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport told the MEN: “Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, all flights to the region are subject to cancellations and delays.

“This includes connecting services and some services that would usually have flown over the area to other destinations. Passengers due to travel to the region are advised to look out for updates from their airlines.”

She’s not the only celeb caught up in the chaos.

Vicky Pattison and husband Ercan Ramadan took an 11 hour car ride from Dubai to Oman in a bid to find a route back to the UK.

Dubai International Airport has been hit multiple times since fighting broke out between Iran and the US and Israel over a week ago.

Drone debris also struck the five-star Fairmont The Palm hotel in the popular tourist city, while residential skyscraper Marina Tower was hit, too.

Love Island‘s Laura Anderson managed to get a flight back to Scotland with her daughter Bonnie, while UAE residents Kate and Rio Ferdinand have been sheltering in the basement of their mansion.

Dubai remains on the no travel list, unless it is essential.

The UK Foreign Office states: “FCDO advises against all but essential travel to United Arab Emirates.

“Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).”

The UK government also warns: “Regional escalation poses significant security risks and has led to travel disruption.

“Stay away from areas around security or military facilities.”

On Saturday, a strike sparked chaos at Dubai airport, with passengers scrambling for safety as authorities evacuated parts of the airport and halted flights “until further notice”.

The exact impact point remains unclear but the explosion appears to have occurred near Concourse A, close to the airport’s vast Terminal 3 complex.

A fire was later reported at the terminal as smoke rose over the airport perimeter.

But confusion quickly erupted over what exactly happened.

The Government of Dubai Media Office later described the incident as “minor”, saying falling debris caused no injuries and rejecting claims circulating on social media that the airport had been directly hit.

Airport authorities initially said operations had been suspended, triggering panic among travellers across the region.

Later, officials indicated flights were beginning to partially resume.
