Emmerdale’s Arthur forced to leave as Laurel delivers truth in attack twist

Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) has done nothing but smother Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) with love and care in the aftermath of her hospitalisation in Emmerdale.

He’s been doing this because he was the one who put Laurel in hospital in the first place. Last week, after another argument, Arthur shoved Laurel, but she fell and smacked her head on the stairs.

When Laurel woke up, she claimed to Arthur and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) that she couldn’t remember what had happened. She later said that she actually slipped on Dotty’s toys and fell down the stairs, but didn’t tell anyone in case her daughter felt bad.

In Arthur’s eyes, his mum not actually being able to recall what went on was good news, but that didn’t stop him from feeling overwhelmed with guilt.

Yesterday, Gabby told Laurel that she thinks Arthur had something to do with her fall. Laurel eventually convinced Gabby otherwise and when she left, Arthur proceeded to bad mouth her.

His constant negativity towards other people was what made Laurel snap in tonight’s episode, as she confirmed she knows he put her in hospital.

At first, Arthur went to deny her comments, but it soon became clear that Laurel had known about his actions all along.

Laurel was deeply disappointed that Arthur never once thought about telling the truth. It was clear Laurel was telling a different story about her fall because she wanted to protect Arthur, but was also trying to come to terms with the fact her once sweet and innocent boy was capable of something so awful.

In order to create space between her and Arthur, Laurel packed his bag and told him to go and stay with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson). She explained that she needed time to work out what to do next.

Arthur was gutted, but he really didn’t have any choice.

Will the events in tonight’s episode be enough for Arthur to change?

Or is he going to head further down a dark path?
