Emmerdale’s Danny Miller ‘honoured’ as he shares career update

The 35-year-old actor has portrayed Aaron Dingle for almost two decades

Danny Miller is “honoured” as he shared a thank you message to celebrate his latest career achievement. The 35-year-old actor has captured the hearts of audiences since he first appeared on Emmerdale in 2008. His character, Aaron Dingle, has been at the centre of several gripping storylines, from complex love affairs to harrowing brushes with the law and stints behind bars.

It’s been a whirlwind year in Emmerdale with Aaron’s ex Robert making a dramatic return to the village while John Sugden’s terrifying reign of terror finally came to an end last month.

All was celebrated during last night’s TV Choice Awards, which saw Emmerdale take home three prizes. The long-running Yorkshire-based programme scooped up the award for best soap, while Bradley Riches, who arrived as Lewis Barton last year, was named best soap newcomer.

Danny Miller won the award for best soap performance for his portrayal of Aaron Dingle. Aaron has been a fan-favourite character for almost two decades, and fans were pleased to see him get engaged once again to Robert during the iconic Corriedale crossover episode earlier this year, kickstarting the ultimate return of “Robron”.

Danny has since took to social media to share a “thank you” message to his fans. Sharing a photo of himself holding the trophy for best soap performance, he said: “Thank you to every single person who voted for me and the team last night – I’m so honoured.”

Danny’s co-stars rushed to the comments to send their support to the actor after his incredible achievement.

Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby Miligan said: “Talented AND funny? No! It’s too much. Love you. Well deserved Danny, you’re a classy, hugely natural actor and I love, love working with you. Ps. You look fabulous. Yep. It’s too much. X”

Isabel Hodgins, who portrays Victoria Sugden, added: “So happy and proud of you” with red love heart emoji.

Danny has been praised for several powerful storylines over the years, including his portrayal of Aaron’s journey with his sexuality.

Speaking to the Press Association about the impact of the storyline, he said: “Particularly at the time, there was a lot of education from producers that said this hasn’t really been done.

“I mean, that was 2008/2009, so at that time it was nowhere near accepted as it is now, as it should be.

“It kind of makes it a little bit nicer when you get accolades for that because you’re representing a community as well as acting it out of how the scriptwriters see it, and the best way to do it is to just put your all into it and realise that you’re representing somebody that’s not necessarily yourself but a massive community of people who need their story telling.

“I still get loads of fan mail these days that tell me about how the character, the storyline, helped them come out and they can resonate with it and that’s the idea of soap, especially now more than ever.”
