Emmerdale’s Nicola Wheeler said upcoming episodes will be “turbulent” on the soap as she celebrates 25 years.

On Wednesday (October 15), actress Nicola Wheeler appeared on This Morning with presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, as well as soap expert Sharon Marshall.

Nicola first arrived in the Dales 25 years ago, reaching a milestone for her time on Emmerdale as Nicola King.

She briefly departed from the ITV soap in 2006 before returning just a year later and has stayed in the village ever since.

Throughout her time on Emmerdale, her most prominent relationship has been with husband Jimmy King. Speaking about what it’s like to work alongside Nick Miles, Nicola shared: “Oh, you know, we have a laugh. We’re really mean to each other.

“If we get lines wrong, we really call each other out and say something cruel… I’m constantly going ‘recast’ every time, you know, ‘when’s Nicola having an affair, when are these lovely men coming in’?” as she laughed.

The actress added: “But I don’t think they’ll split Nicola and Jimmy up.”

When asked if she remembers her first day on set, Nicola replied: “Do you know what? I do. It was with Kate McGregor, and I was in the then post office which had real chocolate that we used to snack on.

“You used to go, ‘is it tea break?’ and take the props, you can’t do that now they’re all out of date!”

Speaking about what’s next for Nicola in the village, she opened up about her and Laurel’s relationship “taking a hit”.

She said: “There’s a thing about, because the school were informed and Nicola is unhappy about whoever informed the school. Why didn’t they just come to her, and also Dawn and they could sort it out privately.

“So Lauren and her have a big discussion about who it was, and it turns out to be somebody you don’t expect. It’s gonna get even more turbulent…

“I mean it’s Nicola, she’s gonna have a fight with whoever.”
