Emmerdale’s Paddy hatches a desperate last ditch plan to save Bear

Emmerdale’s Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has all but one thing on his mind – save his dad.

This is proving trickier as time goes on as though frail Bear has been given a manslaughter charge rather than murder, the police are well onto the fact that he did not act alone. Paddy’s lie that he was at a conference is as weak as Bear’s nerves.

Bear is also still in an utter state of shock about what he did to Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) and is at risk of breaking down at any moment.

DS Walsh is like a dog with a bone knowing how close she is to the truth – she knows that Bear could not have lifted Ray’s body alone and is determined to make Paddy crack. Because of this, Paddy has been too scared to allow Bear to seek proper psychological help.

Bear will take matters into his own hands towards the end of this week, heading into hospital in search of the drugs he’s still withdrawing from.

Bear leaves the hospital in a state and more vulnerable than ever, but worse, has broken his bail conditions. He walks alone along a deserved country lane, dodging traffic to avoid being discovered.

Paddy, meanwhile, has no idea where his dad has gone and spends all night searching for him. Paddy is in a bad spot when DS Walsh shows up to reveal that Bear’s bail conditions have been breached and that he assaulted Jacob in hospital. As a result, he’ll be held on remand once found.

This is the worst news Paddy could have received, knowing that Bear would not cope inside.

After searching high and low, he eventually finds his dad, broken and grieving besides Anya’s empty grave.
