Emmerdale’s Zoe Henry responds to fans Cain Dingle ‘wish’ as Ray killer found

Emmerdale star Zoe Henry responded to fans wish for Cain Dingle to step in to end Ray and Celia’s empire as the former’s killer is revealed.

The actress made her debut as Rhona Goskirk back in 2001, but it wasn’t until 2010 that she became a full-time cast member. Her brief departure from the show after 2002 saw her in rival soaps Coronation Street and EastEnders also.

Since 2021, Rhona has been with Marlon Dingle and the pair have tried to navigate their family unit. In recent episodes, Rhona and Marlon have struggled to understand how to help April Windsor.

However, a dark twist saw April being groomed by Ray Walters and Celia Daniels as they forced her to do drug runs and sleep with older men in order to pay off her debt to them.

Everything was finally exposed, as well as the pair’s modern slavery business, but justice appears to be a distant wish as both Celia and Ray are now dead.

It was Ray who stabbed his mum, Celia, after she tried to stop him from having a fresh start with Laurel Thomas who he had struck up a relationship with.

Later, Ray was also seen dead but no one knows who the killer is as of yet. However, that will all change as Emmerdale are set to air a week of episodes in a “who dunnit” style.

Each explosive episode will show flashbacks for each suspect – Laurel, Rhona and Marlon before viewers will finally see who killed Ray before his body was dumped into the back of Jai Sharma’s van.

When asked about Rhona’s interactions with Ray, Zoe replied: “Well it was particularly dark when he mentioned Pierce. Yeah, I mean, that’s her Achilles heal anyway. Ray knew what he was doing, bringing that in. It just derails her any time his name is mentioned. This period in her life is just constant abject fear and panic.

“Having witnessed what Ray did to Dylan on the phone when we were in the room with Celia. They’re just like rabbits in the headlights. There’s not, you know, a noise in the night, the door opening, you know where they’re not straight back there. They think they’re at constant risk and therefore are in absolute fear and panic constantly.”

In terms of whether she has a motive to kill Ray, Zoe admitted: “I think she could be motivated because how long are they prepared to let this go on for? I think it’s that moment of desperation that there is no way out. And so, if I die or I sacrifice myself in the process of freeing my family, particularly my children, then maybe I’ll do it.

“And I think that’s what’s in Rhona’s mind. He is ruthless and relentless, and he will stop at nothing. And Rhona knows that. So she’s all in. She’s got to be otherwise, where will they be left?”

Zoe married Emmerdale co-star Jeff Hordley who plays Cain Dingle in 2003. Throughout this storyline, fans have hoped that Cain would be the one to step in and help Marlon and Rhona.

Reacting to this theory not happening, Zoe responded: “Professionally disappointed, personally thrilled. I don’t want to work with Jeff and he doesn’t want to work with me, but I also think my husband is a brilliant actor. I’m always keen to work with people that are brilliant and he is so it’s a double edged sword, I suppose.”
