General Hospital Wednesday Recap: Alexis Decides to Run for Congress
Nathan returns to the PCPD to tell Dante that he served Michael with the warrant, and his brother handed over his keys without a problem. They are now with forensics. Nathan thinks this is a long shot, as the last thing the shooter would do is leave evidence on their keyring. (Thank you for thinking logically for once! Now if only they’d fingerprint the key!)

Dante suggests that Nathan get out of there for the day, given that Maxie is coming home, but Nathan welcomes any distraction. He has no idea what will happen when he and Maxie see one another. Nathan knows Maxie moved on over these seven years, and he doesn’t want to be seen as an obligation.
They discuss how Dante was in a similar situation with Sam and Lulu, though Sam died before Lulu woke up. Still, he was devoted to Sam, and Maxie is devoted to Spinelli. Dante tells him not to make assumptions about Maxie and to let her set the pace. Sensing hesitation in Nathan’s voice, Dante asks, does he want to get back with Maxie?
Nina Encourages Willow
Willow stops by Nina’s office and tells her mother that Drew’s associates want her to serve out the remainder of his term in Congress. Nina is thrilled, calling it an honor, and she has a secret weapon: her own mother! Nina reminds Willow that she is the one who made all the connections Drew needed to win, and she could be exceptional and is more equipped to do good than Drew ever was.

Willow says she still doesn’t know about policy, which is why Nina feels she’ll succeed, as she’s not your everyday slimy politician. She says it will only be a year, and she can always walk away when it’s up. But it could also change her life and empower her in ways she never considered. (After the Laura/Ezra storyline, is anyone else NOT thrilled to dive into politics again?)
Molly and Suzanne Support Alexis
Alexis meets with Molly and Suzanne at her office to give them the big news: Laura wants her to take over Drew’s seat in Congress. Molly and Suzanne believe she’d be perfect for the job and lay out their reasons why. Alexis begins to believe she could do good, but would she be doing it for the greater good or for her own ego? She notes Drew was a good guy once, and maybe politics turned him into a psychopath.

Molly and Suzanne still have faith in Alexis and would love to see her take the job. Alexis notes this job would have consequences for Scout.
Kristina Tells Cody to Read!
Kristina walks into the Quartermaine kitchen and finds Cody on the phone, talking about Jane Austen. She soon learns Cody joined a book club, so she decides to give him Molly’s manuscript to finish and see how it ends.
Kristina knows he thinks Casey, his character, is a bum, but he takes the hero’s journey in the book and changes. She urges him to read it, but he says he’ll take it to book club when it’s published. Kristina reveals Molly isn’t going to publish it.

Kristina explains that Molly pours her emotions out on paper; it’s magic, and she’s annoyingly good at it. However, she’s willing not to share this magic with the world to protect him and his feelin
Lulu Seeks Out Motherly Advice
Lulu stops by her mom’s office, and Laura senses by her daughter’s state that this is about Maxie. Lulu has been praying for this day, for Maxie to come back to them, and now also to the love of her life, Nathan.
Lulu feels she’s been a terrible friend to Maxie, kissing and falling for her husband, but Laura argues it was a complicated situation. Laura reminds Lulu that Maxie moved on with her life, but Lulu remembers how Nathan’s death wrecked Maxie, so his return will change everything.

Laura suggests she speak with Nathan about how he feels. Lulu assumes Nathan is thrilled about Maxie returning, but Laura says he could be as confused as she is. Lulu believes Maxie and Nathan deserve their happy endings, which is why she feels terrible for Spinelli right now.
Spinelli Opens Up to Brook Lynn
Brook Lynn arrives at Maxie’s place to find Spinelli lost in thought. Spinelli confesses he fears he could lose Maxie today. Brook Lynn realizes this is about Nathan.

Spinelli tells Brook Lynn that she didn’t see Maxie and Nathan together, and that she was so in love with him. Brook Lynn tells him that she was here to watch the Spinelli and Maxie show, and how Maxie found her way back to him. She tells him not to assume Maxie’s relationship with Nathan is more important than her relationship with him. She says Maxie is the one who gets to make this choice, so let her choose him again.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Kristina tells Cody that this book could mean something to people, as it’s a story about people who get to know one another past first impressions. She wants her sister to see how much it means to people, and Cody’s opinion matters to Molly, so read the book to the end. Molly thinks he’s a hero, and this is his chance to prove her right. Kristina leaves, and Cody begins reading.

Alexis tells Molly and Suzanne that all her past transgressions will be brought into the public eye, and that is not fair to Scout or any of her girls. Molly tells her to see it as a way to show Scout how you can triumph over adversity. Alexis decides to go for it.
Willow confesses to Nina that she doesn’t know if she can do this with her kids, and with Drew home. Nina says it’s time to put Drew in a long-term facility, and he would want her to take this opportunity.
Laura realizes Lulu thinks Maxie will choose Nathan. Lulu believes Spinelli will bow out, as that’s the kind of person he is. And while she and Nathan only just begun, it doesn’t feel that way to her.
Brook Lynn tells Spinelli that he is the one who sweeps Maxie off her feet every day. Spinelli finds his fighting spirit again, but says he’ll need Brook Lynn’s help.

Before Nathan can tell Dante what he wants, Dante gets a call from forensics. Michael’s keychain contains one for Drew’s house.
On the next General Hospital, Maxie comes home, Brook Lynn tells Chase it’s time to start their family, and Drew tries to communicate with Alexis.
