Home and Away ‘icons’ return after 10 years as Channel 7 announce show’s historic first: ‘Finally answer burning questions
Home and Away fans were thrilled when it was announced that two of Summer Bay’s most popular characters, Darryl ‘Brax’ Braxton (Stephen Peacocke) and Erica ‘Ricky’ Sharpe (Bonnie Sveen), would be making a comeback. Now, Stephen and Bonnie are officially back on set.
The on-screen couple left the show in 2016 and will appear in a TV special in 2026 to show where life has taken them since then. The episodes will be produced in partnership with Tourism Western Australia and will deliver “high-stakes drama and emotional payoffs set against a stunning backdrop of WA’s rugged outback”.
This will also mark the first time in the show’s history that Home and Away will be shot in WA.
“While storyline details remain under lock and key, filming is taking place across multiple locations – from Perth, to the rugged, red dirt of the outback, and along the awe-inspiring Coral Coast, showcasing the vast natural beauty synonymous with Western Australia,” Channel 7 said.
“Brax and Ricky were last seen driving out of Summer Bay in 2016.
“These episodes will finally answer the burning question fans have been asking for a decade – where has life taken this much-loved TV couple 10 years on?”
In August, Peacocke said in a statement that he was looking forward to playing the charismatic leader of the River Boys again.
“I’ll always be grateful to Home and Away for being the launchpad to my career, and I’ve got a sincere appreciation for the fans who’ve followed my work since,” he said.
“When the producers asked if I’d revisit Brax, it felt like a fun opportunity – and one I think the audience will really enjoy.
“Filming in spectacular outback Western Australia is the icing on the cake.”
Sveen added that she never expected to reprise her role of Ricky, which she played from 2013 to 2016, but she was “beyond thrilled” to reunite with her former scene partner.
Home and Away shared a photo of Peacocke and Sveen on set in the outback in WA.
They wrote, “From The Bay to the Outback – Brax and Ricky are back!
“Filming has kicked off in Western Australia for the iconic duo’s long-awaited return to Home and Away.
“You’ll want to be watching @channel7 and @7plus in 2026 for this one…”
Fans noted that the actors looked almost exactly the same as they did 10 years ago.
“These two are aging like fine wine — beautiful,” a fan said.
“You guys look like no time has passed,” another said.
“So happy to have you back, the show has never been the same since you guys left.”
“Brax and Ricky are actual @homeandaway icons, they are royalty amongst fans,” a third said.
Another shared that she was crying “happy tears” to see her favourites on-screen again.
“Is this for real? I nearly stopped watching Home and Away when Brax left last time,” they added.
“A very big welcome back if it’s true.”
