Home and Away’s Remi Carter to face worrying moment after life-or-death surgery

Home and Away favourite Remi Carter will be forced to undergo life-or-death surgery. In scenes set to air this week in Australia (via TV Week), the musician – played by actor Adam Rowland – will spend an “incredibly tense” period in the operating theatre to assess whether or not his brain tumour is cancerous.

A milestone moment for the character, a terrified Remi initially refuses the surgery, which requires him to be awake, but after spending time with his loved ones, he changes his mind.

Speaking with TV Week, Rowland, who joined the soap in 2022, revealed what’s in store. “Remi has realised that his friends and family don’t need his money, they need him,” the TV star said.

Treated by a neurosurgeon, Remi is taken to the theatre, where he runs into Dr Levi Fowler. Attempting to alleviate Remi’s concerns, Levi confesses that he had once been jealous of the bond that Remi shares with his sister, Eden, a conversation which keeps Remi calm and distracted.

“It’s incredibly tense [in the theatre],” Rowland added. “The doctor needs a steady hand.”

While the neurosurgeon completes his surgery, this is Summer Bay we’re talking about, and Remi’s joy is short-lived. After recovering from his operation, the character is joined by his best friend, Eden, who plays him a song in the hospital.

What starts as a sweet moment, however, turns sour when Remi struggles to recall the word for “guitar” and begins having trouble with his speech. Is this a temporary effect or has something gone seriously wrong?

It’s been a challenging few months for Remi, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour after the dramatic train crash, which first aired in January. While he tried to ignore the reality of his condition by walking out of his check-up with Levi, Remi was forced to confront his diagnosis after having a seizure and experiencing other serious symptoms.
