ITV Coronation Street welcomes CBBC presenter in new role and it’s bad news for Todd

Coronation Street will be introducing a familiar face next week as newcomer Pete joins the cobbles.

In upcoming spoilers for next week, Theo Silverton and Gary Windass sit down with a man called Peter in the bistro to discuss a potential contract.

However, manipulative Theo is soon left jealous and anxious after boyfriend Todd Grimshaw’s secretive behaviour.

In scenes this week, Todd Grimshaw confides in Billy Mayhew that he’s got an appointment at the hospital to check for bowel cancer but he hasn’t told boyfriend Theo as he’s got enough on his plate.

During his meeting with Peter, Theo spots Billy and Summer Spellman, where he tells them he’s worried about Todd and fears there’s something he’s not telling him.

The interaction leaves Billy squirming especially as he dashes outside to take a call off Todd, which leaves Theo seething as he orders shots…

Later in the week, following his results, Todd, who is nursing a hangover, heads home to face the wrath of Theo.

As he apologises to Theo for staying the night at Billy’s, swearing that nothing has happened, Pete emerges from the bathroom and Todd’s aghast.

Manipulative Theo is unrepentant, accusing Todd of sneaking around behind his back for days.

This forces Todd to come clean about his health scare but when Theo twists the situation and tries to blame Todd, Todd finally snaps and orders him to pack his bags.

The character of Pete is being played by actor and presenter Andrew Hayden-Smith. Viewers will know Andrew from his various presenting and acting roles over the years.

Andrew, 41, soared to fame on Byker Grove as Ben Carter back in 1996, a role he played until 2003. The actor went on to land a role as a CBBC presenter from 2002 to 2006.

Following that, he hosted UK Top 40 from 2004 to 2005, as well as making appearances on Blue Peter, Doctor Who and This Morning.
