It was the day of baby Harper’s operation in Coronation Street today, and Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) saw this as the perfect opportunity to try and get closer to David Platt (Jack P Shepherd).

As part of her plan to destroy sister Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) life, Jodie wants to turn David’s attention away from his wife and onto her.

She’s doing this slowly so David doesn’t get suspicious of her. A couple of weeks ago, she opened up to David about the difficult childhood she had, and how different it was to the chaotic but loving environment at the Platts. Afterwards, she asked David to watch a film with her as she didn’t want to be on her own.

There was also the time Jodie stole Shona’s wedding ring and pretended to look for it with David, just as an excuse to be close to him.

In this evening’s episode, Jodie and the rest of the Platt clan headed to the hospital to support David and Shona, who were there for Harper’s operation. They were initially touched to see everyone, but their irritation levels started to grow when the family essentially made themselves far too comfortable in the hospital lobby and did not stop talking.

When Shona and David discovered that Harper had experienced a bleed, a stressed David told everyone to leave. They disappeared, but David later found Jodie in a corridor.

Jodie attempted to reassure David about Harper, and then said that it looked as though he needed a hug. David thought it was a bit weird, but hugged Jodie nonetheless and made a passing comment about how she can’t tell anyone about it.

This moment didn’t prove Jodie and David have romantic chemistry, but he’s now made a mistake by telling Jodie to keep quiet about their hug, as she’s bound to use this to her advantage in the future.

Jodie then left the hospital, but bumped into a new mum on her way out. The mother assumed that Jodie was Shona, and she had no problem letting her believe that she was Harper’s mum and David’s partner.

Baby Harper’s operation was a success and that evening, David and Shona spent time gazing at their daughter as she rested in her hospital bed.

In the background of this shot, Jodie appeared and starred at the couple through a window. It was a clear sign that Jodie wants the life Shona has, but will her plan end up working?
