Landman Season 2 Shares A Key Asset With Yellowstone: Taylor Sheridan
Landman shares a few surface-level details with Yellowstone. It is a gritty saga with a character-driven story set against breathtaking, sprawling landscapes. It also features a strong, driven lead who navigates a high-stakes industry while balancing a family. However, Landman’s most important resemblance to Yellowstone is the role Sheridan plays at the helm of the story.
Taylor Sheridan Wrote The Scripts For Landman Season 2

The Yellowstone executive producer is known for his captivating screenwriting, earning an Academy Award nomination for his Hell or High Water screenplay in 2016. Sheridan’s role as Yellowstone’s screenwriter certainly contributed to the show’s enduring success, as it could with Landman, seeing as Taylor Sheridan personally penned the scripts for Landman season 2.
Sheridan wrote every episode of Landman season 1 and has stayed at the helm of the writing for season 2 with series co-creator Christian Wallace. It’s a good sign that Sheridan has strapped himself to the story. It suggests that he will give Landman the same focus that he gave Yellowstone, for which he has writing credits on every episode.
Taylor Sheridan Passed Off His Writing Duties In His Other Paramount+ Shows
While Sheridan has stayed on as the screenwriter for several of his Paramount+ shows, that isn’t the case for all of them. After writing the first season of his crime drama starring Jeremy Renner, Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan passed his writing duties onto a handful of the show’s creators, who split up the episodes in seasons 2 and 3.
Something similar is true of Tulsa King, Sheridan’s mafia drama starring Sylvester Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a legendary mafia capo. Sheridan wrote Tulsa King‘s pilot with Terence Winter, who contributed to the series’ development and stayed on as its showrunner and head writer. However, Sheridan hasn’t written an episode of Tulsa King since its premiere.
Taylor Sheridan Is Still Taking A Step Back From His Landman Season 2 Duties

That said, Sheridan is still taking a step back from Landman season 2. Per MovieWeb, he is handing over his directing duties to Stephen Kay, suggesting he won’t be as omnipresent. Still, Kay directed six of Landman’s first ten episodes and has contributed to some of Sheridan’s best works, including Yellowstone, so the series is still getting the same attention.
