‘The Young and the Restless’ Fans Sound Off on ‘Stunt Casting’ Chaos
Something is happening behind the scenes at The Young and the Restless, as several new cast members have been announced. These additions are big names coming to shake things up in Genao City.
The new cast members also come hot on the heels of Y&R hiring Billy Flynn (Cane), while losing Jermaine Rivers (Damian) and Conner Floyd (Chance) this summer. The Young and the Restless fans are losing their mind over the cast shake-up.
Y&R Fans Blast Casting Chaos on CBS Soap
X has been on fire, as news that Days of Our Lives alums Tamara Braun (Ava) and Lucas Adams (Tripp), as well as General Hospital alums Roger Howarth (Franco) and Matt Cohen (Griffin), are headed to Genoa City.
“What’s up with #YR casting all of these vets from other shows; Billy, Tamara and now Roger lol,” said a fan. One fan stated, “It doesn’t matter how many big names they hire if Josh Griffith cannot write for them. FIRE HIM! #yr.”
The sentiment about the writing was echoed more than once. “Let’s be honest, #YR could cast Meryl Streep in a new role & it still wouldn’t make a difference, because the actors aren’t the issue. Until they start “showing” instead of “telling” & until the dialogue starts having some actual substance…” shared a fan.
One fan made it clear that all these casting changes won’t make a difference if the writing doesn’t change. Another fan insisted, “What was the point of killing Chance? They got no drama or good episodes out of it. Now they’ve hired Matt Cohen, a name actor by soap standards, to play some new detective when he could have just been NuChance. This f–king show… #YR.”
A couple of fans wondered how the show was going to afford all these new people who don’t come cheap.
The Young and the Restless Fans Have Questions
One fan wondered why Y&R is missing out on a great casting opportunity, writing, “With all this massive hiring going on at #YR why don’t they grab Kelly Monaco?”
Another fan listed all the recent “stunt casting” on The Young and the Restless and asked who Head Writer Josh Griffith’s next choice would be.
“Why are people speculating that Sharon is on the chopping block? 😂 If Sharon Case got fired from that show viewers would leave in DROVES, and no amount of Victor & Nikki dancing through time would ever bring them back. #yr,” expressed a fan.
A different fan called out The Young and the Restless for being in a casting war with Days of Our Lives, while also recasting Noah after Rory Gibson’s success on General Hospital.
Howarth, Braun, Adams, and Cohen will be making their Y&R debut this fall.
