“Heading back to her ex,” as Audra put it, seems imminent for Young & Restless’ Claire, who was cozying up to Kyle shortly after putting Holden out to pasture. But what she doesn’t know could definitely doom their chances.

Claire gave Holden the ol’ heave ho after he refused to hand over the missing pieces to The Mystery of the Art Dealer’s Disappearance to her. We’re not sure why he won’t tell Claire, given Holden was acting in self-defense and the accidental dealer death wasn’t anywhere near as heinous as her luring her own family members to their tortuous deaths by poisoning or orchestrating Aunt Jordan’s deliberate death by teacup, but here we are.

Despite all of those things, and being a Newman, Claire’s now the self-appointed poster girl for pure intentions and holds everyone she interacts with (except her grandfather) to the same standard. We can’t help but think it’s going to be a rough road for her in a town like Genoa City, where secrets abound. Which brings us to Kyle and the reason their looming reunion is doomed.

We’d take any bet Billy Abbott could offer that Kyle hasn’t learned his lesson about withholding things from Claire and will keep the one secret that will inevitably come out and prove to be a deal-breaker for their renewed relationship. That being: Kyle kissed Audra on Valentine’s Day. Passionately.

Here’s why this is a problem on more than one level. Most obvious: Kyle will probably conspire with Audra to keep it hidden from Claire, because, as we mentioned, he never learns that honesty is the best policy. Especially when your girlfriend acts like a morality cop and just dumped the last guy for not coming clean.

Secondly, Kyle kissed Audra. He probably could have planted one on anyone else in the entire world and Claire could have stomached it. After all, she was off in L.A. with Holden and they were broken up. But Audra is her Achilles heel and the last person she’d want him to lock lips with… and she ain’t gonna’ buy that he did it to “show her what she was missing” or “teach her a lesson” or any such excuse. Why?

Because Kyle and Audra have chemistry out the wazoo. He wanted to kiss her. Even if all you saw was the pair of them yukking it up over the idea of Nikki Newman having to sell her jewelry, you’d see the sparks. Claire is a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them. “Fool me once…” and all that. Plus, it was Valentine’s Day, which adds insult to injury. Yeah, the outlook isn’t good.

Claire and Kyle may get back together, but a bombshell is waiting to detonate that will almost certainly doom the reunion in short order. Who have you got in this particular romance sweepstakes? Vote!
