Yellowstone spin-off with Kelly Reilly gets thrilling filming update months before release
The eagerly anticipated Yellowstone sequel series, The Dutton Ranch, has reportedly recommenced filming its debut season.
Set to debut in 2026 on Paramount+, the contemporary Western drama will feature Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser returning as Montana’s formidable power couple, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
The narrative will continue in the aftermath of Beth’s ranch magnate father John Dutton’s death (portrayed by Kevin Costner), as the couple navigate fresh challenges whilst raising their adopted son Carter (Finn Little).
Filming commenced in 2025, and Collider has now verified that production is forging ahead in Fort Worth following a winter hiatus.
Reports indicate that local casting announcements have confirmed that work on both The Dutton Ranch and Taylor Sheridan’s acclaimed military thriller Lioness is back underway, reports the Express.

Background extras are being sought for pivotal sequences in both productions.
Regrettably, viewers remain uncertain about the precise premiere date for the Yellowstone spin-off after Paramount discreetly pushed the launch from 2025 to 2026.
There’s speculation suggesting the series probably won’t materialise until the second half of the year, although devotees thankfully have the forthcoming Marshals, headlined by Luke Grimes as Beth’s brother Kayce, to satisfy their Yellowstone cravings from March onwards.
A synopsis for The Dutton Ranch states: “Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch.
“With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”
The show has recently welcomed Hollywood star Jai Courtney to the cast as a fresh rancher, who previously appeared alongside Yellowstone’s Hassie Harrison in the thriller Dangerous Animals.
While fans face a considerable wait for fresh episodes, 2026 promises to be a thrilling year for Yellowstone enthusiasts as another spin-off, The Madison, is currently well underway in production.
It’s been recently revealed that a second series was shot before the debut season has even hit screens, with the new drama fronted by Michelle Pfeiffer also targeting a launch later this year.
Hollywood legends Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams and Beau Garrett will also feature in the series which follows an affluent New York family who move to the Madison River valley in central Montana.
